500g of napolina pasta is between £1 and £1.55 in the big supermarkets so £2.39 for a 1kg doesn't sound inflated, co-op stores are convenience stores after all.0

For that price they should be giving away free subway meatballs with the pasta !Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

Now 20% cooler0 -
In my Tesco at the minute they have a "special offer" for a bottle of soda / tonic water for 50p a bottle. Next to this are pre packed 4 bottles of soda water for £1.45 normal price - no price reduction.
I realise that you might not want 4 bottles but it just makes me think that you could pick up 4 of the single bottles and pay 65p more for exactly the same thing.0 -
Why wouldn't it be sold at £2.39 originally? I actually bought the 1kg of spagetti yesterday as they sell there own brand spagetti 500g for £1 and 500g napolina spagetti is much more so I though £1.19 for 1kg was good price. Obviously it is cheaper elsewhere but the co-op is the only shop in the village and when I factor in petrol etc to drive to asda I though it was a decent deal.0

Does it really matter what the 'original' price was?
I always look at the value of the price for the item regardless on offer or not.
What I object to most are signs that have a massive say 50P so at first glance you think that is the price but on closer inspection it is the saving and the actual price is in smaller print underneath.0 -
Do you agree !!!!!!!! offers with inflated before prices should be banned ?
I saw this CO OP half price offer today 1 kilo of Napolina pasta now £ 1.19 was £2.39
It's insulting that they think we are stupid enough to beleive that or any bog standard pasta ever was £2.39 a kilo. ( maybe in Harrods in Dubia it is ? )
we should boycot any store that does this.
Maybe you are just stupid full stop, seems to be the case anyway.
Tesco are charging £2.20 so for a company which is mainly made up of convenience stores to be charging £2.39 as a normal price is not only expected but it IS the normal price.
£1.19 is a bargain.0 -
I'm off to the co-op to stock up, £1.19 is a fantastic price, I dont know how they do itOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0

I think they buy them from Tesco at £2.20, then sell them at £1.19.
...If you think supermarkets are always screwing you on prices, then I'd suggest shopping in local shops/farm shops. You might pay more, but you'll get better quality, healthier food that is seasonal, better for you and supports the local economy.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
I saw a jar of Lloyd grossman sauce in the Co-op on 'offer' at £1.30 with a 'previous' price of £2.25.
