Sky to Freeview Aerial Issue

Hi,
Hoping this is the right forum for this question!
We are moving into a new home in a few weeks. The previous owners had Sky but we just want to keep Freeview for now.
Problem is that the Sky cables have been left coming from the aerial socket and we can't use these for Freeview.
Is there a simple way to resolve this?
Thanks :)

If the dish is still there at the other end of the Sky cables, and there is no standard aerial, then consider a Freesat box. Almost the same channel line up as Freeview.
Extra box needed as your TV may well have a Freeview tuner built in, but not a Freesat one. But it's probably going to work out cheaper than getting an aerial installed.

  • Can you see an aerial on the roof or within the loft?

There is still a Sky dish on the roof.
  • Alright, I misread your question...

I don't know if there is an aerial.

The cheapest way would be to acquire an old Sky digibox from Freecycle or
Freegle (or from a car boot sale for 50p or so). Connect it up to one of the satellite cables and you'll get all the free-to-air channels for nothing. No card required.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Corrected that for you the FTV channels require a Freesat from Sky card.
