...would also like to be able to get my BT broadband on the phone as well if possible.
If so, the main difference in 'complexity' is between the main operating systems in the first place (iOS, Android and Windows Mobile), not between the phones. The best way is to go to some shop and try all three.
Then you need to make a decision on how much you want to spend. Cheapest smartphones cost below £100. Top ones - £600+. The best value for money smartphones are among Androids and Windows phones.0 -
Are you after contract or phone + monthly/ PAYG?
How many minutes/ txt/ internet usage are you after?
Do you have any budget in mind?
Edit: If you are light user and want a cheap option, I generally suggest you have a look at Nokia 520 or Hauwei Y300 with Ovivo freedom0 -
Its like a foreign language to me. I'm self-employed and will need a mobile for the part time job I start soon, also, I will be having a stall at fetes, shows etc. I will need a phone incase my elderly mum needs me, also for business use.0

For what you say you don't need a smartphone with internet. Any basic sim-free phone will do the job. Prices start from about a tenner.
For a sim card see OVIVO Mobile | Set your mobile FREE!0 -
Hi all, I feel quite strongly about T-Mobile who took money without my permission. I have had to call up 3 times in the past month to try and get my money back - the first guy said the dd had been cancelled (4.5 weeks ago), the second woman said it would be 14 days and did not process the refund and today some woman said it would take 14 days - these guys take money when they want and are not keen to return it when in the wrong - use anyone but T-Mobile0
