TalkTalk Rant

Just venting. Bought a phone and tablet bundle from them for £15 p/m. Two months later, the screen on the tablet cracked of it's own accord, on the left hand side. I looked into it, and apparently there's an issue with screens lifting on the Nexus 7's which can cause the screens to crack.

Phoned TalkTalk and explained my problem, and they sent me to the Carphone Warehouse for a repair. Carphone Warehouse don't repair tablets, so phoned TalkTalk again, and again they sent me to the Carphone Warehouse. The Manager, who by the way was very obnoxious, said I must've damaged it and that they wouldn't repair it nor would Asus.

This time I emailed TalkTalk, and had to wait more than a week for a reply, only to be told I had to phone TalkTalk. Again, I phone TalkTalk, and again I end up talking to some obnoxious tech support guy who said "It's your own fault for sitting on it!". I didn't sit on it, it was in my pocket. I did't say that I'd sat on. I lose the will to live, and ask that my DD be put on hold until the issue is resolved. I then send a letter of complaint and wait almost two weeks for a phone call. I get phoned several times, whilst "She looks into it" when I make counter arguments about how TalkTalks policy cannot deny me statutory rights when she said I HAD to go to the manufacturer and that I was in fact paying for the tablet when she tried to claim it was a free gift.

My case has now been deadlocked when I point blank refused their offer of a discount on my landline bill. Now wrote another letter in the vain hope they might see sense, but I think this may end up with the ombudsman. Stay well clear, I know I won't be renewing contracts. Sorry for the rant.

Comments

  • I've now been told they won't send me a deadlock letter as it "isn't a valid complaint" as the "website clearly states it's a free gift"! I've asked them to cancel the contract without penalty to me as I believe them to be in breach of contract as they are not honouring their contract long warranty, and I certainly feel they are obligated under the Goods and Services Act to repair or replace. She's "looking into it" for me, I doubt they are going cancel without penalty, but we'll see,
  • Cancelled my contract without penalty, only 4 months into a two year contract. Business 101 :/
