    Hola

if you are suffering from noise, attacks, droppings etc then fire a small firework in your garden (not between 11pm to 7am) ...a rocket preferably...not at the gulls and they will go away and in addition if they nest nearby....get a fibre glass flagpole...10-15 metres and wave in the air and that will encourage them to leave an adjacent area.....however if they have nested then you could be breaking the law so its important that you do this before the nesting season which is mid-late may.

any other humane methods please make your recommendations

Hey drago, thanks for the reply.Didnt need to take such drastic action as you have suggested above.
I only have 2 and sometimes 3 of them left now.I stopped feeding them in my yard and put plastic carrier bags out of my back windows to prevent them from sitting there.Through time and once they had mated, the pregnant ones left and didnt come back.I think i have a male and female pair left now and the occassional male who turns up now and then. These 3 get fed by any small bird seed that happens to fall from the bird feeders at the bottom of my garden. It took a while but i got rid of them eventually.8 was a bit too much...especially for my next door neighbours who dont like pigeons.
Lack of food was the only way i think, to get rid of them from the yard...It was my own fault but i felt so sorry for them at times when they were sitting waiting on food in the cold and rain. lol

It is not humanity to kill the pigeons. I know pigeons are pests as they carries more than 60 diseases. There are many human ways to get rid of them, you can use bird repellers to keep them away. You can use spikes in order to get rid of them. You can also use some other home remedies to keep them away. As they really works and do not cost anything.
I agree with you Victoria. It took me a long whiole to get rid of them.I dont mind them and was feeding them but for 2 reasons i had to get them to leave my yard and windowsills. The first reason was that i read on here about the diseases they carry and i have 2 dogs so i was worried they would catch something and secondly my neighbours dont like them and didnt want them there.
If you read my post above you will see how it was i got them to go.It didnt cost me a penny neither lol

Pigeon extermination techniques are allowed mostly everywhere it is still not good to use deadly methods to get rid of these birds.
I couldnt harm another creature as i believe they have as much right to live and breathe as all of the rest of the species in our world. It belongs to them too.Any method of getting rid of them should be humane and NOT by killing them off.(they likely arent on this earth for thatlong anyhow so why shorten their wee lives)
There are other ways to get them to leave other than hurting them or killing them.People just need to be patient and caring and imaginative thats all.:)

I'll be watching this thread with interest, these blessed creatures are the bane of my life!

They eat all the food put out for smaller birds (even balancing on the feeder to do so!!) and crap everywhere - cars, washing, walls you name it outside, I've found pigeon poo!

An earlier thread suggested placing an owl decoy/garden ornament might scare them away from a specific place but I haven't tried it.
Sara I actually used to throw the seed on the ground until i got a feeder. You mention that they balance on the bird feeders. If your feeders are the long ones with the clear plastic and small perch landings then if you make sure you pick the right branch to hang them on.
Make sure that the feeder swings easily and that way they cant balance for as long and get fed up trying. This had worked for me.
I had a big problem with starlings grabbing all the food and leaving the small sparrows with nothing when i threw the seed on the ground. They love the fat balls so i stopped buying them and this discouraged them from coming to the gardem. They did try to perch on the feeders but it proved too much for them so now i have gotten rid of them too,Ohew they were actually worse than the pigeons as they are very greedy birds and often get more of their fair share of the food.
Now the sparrows and blue tits getit all except for the few bits that fall to the ground. The 3 pigeons get the remains.,so all is good.

If you are up to it you might want to contact a local shooting club and see if they want to do it, pigeon breast is a gourmet treat

I'm going to try rubbing hot chillies along my balcony, apparently when they tuck their feet under themselves it burns their b***ocks.

Biggest problem I have is that my neighbour is specifically feeding a group of feral pigeons, so if there's no food out they come and help themselves to what I put out for the small birds. (even to feeding from fat balls).
It's been suggested that a super soaker water pistol might be a way of discouraging them!
