Why don't you try setting the alarm clock to ring in 10/15 minutes and seeing how much you can do in that time?Maybe doing it in small bursts is good incentive.0

I tell myself I will just do whatever fits in to an ad break, but I pause the TV anyway and spend 10 / 15 mins doing something then come back Nd watch the next bit of my programme and trick myself into thinking it only took me 3 mins lol0

Awww me being a mere man i was thinking your going to cover everything in paper and just keep changing it when its dusty or dirty. Save cleaning?

I reccommend using a Timer. (Dunelm do one for under a fiver). I`ve been gobsmacked at how much I can get done in twenty-minute bursts, even without rushing, things I`d thought would take ages...0

Great ideas - keep them coming
I only managed one star yesterday but I've still got 13 stars in 3 days, so not too bad. I'm aiming for 3 more stars today. I agree with the timer, I always think such-and-such will take ages, but once I get going I can do it fairly quickly.
I'm off to clean the microwave0 -
pmsl.. erm... this is the whole point of the flylady thing... you do the flinging and make your house habitable then have time to 'reward' yourself with whatever you like... Finally Loving Yourself = FLY...
and... we have stars so there
my motivation and reward is clearing space to decorate/children to play etcLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I get the concept, Pigpen, but the lists on the Flylady thread was too much for me and I got all confuddled and didn't know where to start. This way, I'm doing what I feel needs doing and what I feel like doing, if that makes sense. I'm very happy the Flylady thread works for so many, it just wasn't for me, sorry.0

I'm busy doing a de-hoarding thread.
But have decided that if I put the next lot of washing away the very same day it is dry that is 400 points......and earns me another dress or pair of boots and a bottle of wine.
Good luck with it everyone.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Great idea! I do the odd bit of Flylady but just can't get into it properly (no, I'm not putting on my shoes at 6am and I can't be arsed cleaning the sink several times every day
)
Folding and putting away clothes is my least favourite chore. Emptying the dishwasher comes close. Changing bedclothes, brushing the floor, dusting, cleaning windowsills etc are all things I might reward myself for doing
Tallu, I think having cleaning stuff in every room is a good idea, it did help me, but DH got fed up and couldn't understand why I didn't keep cleaning stuff in one place in the kitchen, instead of having products scattered about the house. I took his advice since we have small children, and although they're hopefully past the age of drinking cleaning products I keep them out of the way now. Baby wipes are amazing though - I use them for "dusting", cleaning windowsills and small floors etc.
TBH, I just tell myself that I am a SAHM, and it is my job to look after the children, cleaning comes second. When they are grown and left home I'll have all the time in the world for cleaning and having a nice house, it's just not worth it right now
