I think I might be a (lazy) genius :D

I'm happy to confess that I hate housework. I really detest it and find it incredibly tedious. However, I've decided I need to do something about my laziness regarding this. I've looked at various threads and even the wonderful "Flylady" thread didn't inspire me. I know - shock horror!

So I've come up with an idea. I've taped 3 sheets of paper to the kitchen cupboards and got a pen and gold star stickers out. Yes, I'm going back to kindergarden territory by awarding myself gold stickers when I do some housework. I "earned" 3 gold stars already :T

The plan is that I will award myself something I would really like once I have a set amount of stars. The first award will be a shellac nail set. It's expensive, so I'll have to earn 50 stars before I can order it. If I keep going at the same rate as today, it'll take me 17 days :D

Feel free to join in if you like - inspiration is always good :)

It sounds like a good plan.

Some housework I hate,ie washing the windows, defrosting and cleaning the fridge- freezer.Once I get stuck in,it actually doesn't take very long.

I'm giving myself stickers for everything :rotfl: Doing dishes, sweeping the floor, laundry, putting the clean clothes away etc. I thought if I go right back to basics I might get the inspiration I need. It seems to be working already, as I can't wait to earn more stickers today :D

    Great idea.
I have the Shellac nail set... I only have UV lamp from Amazon for £32, not the real Shellac thing.. and it works just as well.
I love Shellac! Then you can award yourself new colour for every next 10-15 stars??:-))
  • Genius idea!! Not lazy at all. You just needed to find something to motivate you ;)

So far today I've earned 4 stars :) Will try for a couple more ;)
  • I sooo hate housework, it is the most boring thing ever, someone will have to really come up with some inspiration to get me started, any lazy quick cuts etc might help, like things I can do in 5 mins or so might get me started. and really nice cheap rewards like a bar of chocolate etc.

I've been trying to think of various 5 minute jobs for you, but I don't know how big your abode is. I live in a tiny flat so could sweep the floor in that time, as an example. Loading the washing machine, wipe round the sink in bathroom, fill the kitchen sink with hot soapy water for the dishes to soak and then take a few 5 mins "bursts" of washing up, are a few things I could think of. Give yourself a star each time you do 5 mins and you decide how many stars you need for a chocolate bar :)

I've earned myself a star already this morning by putting some more laundry on (well, I'll put the sticker on the chart once I've hung it all out to dry). I didn't realise that this would inspire me so much :D

Also, I've found a potential second income, but need a tidy and clean place for it, so that's another incentive :)
