Its much more fun building it yourself!

Its much more fun getting the wife to build than yourself, plus she has dainty little hands and a good sense of order so can build a better PC than me.

I could only imagine the look I would get if I dropped a pile of PC bits in front of the wife and said off you go. :rotfl:

Probably with a similar look that I recieved from my wife, but with a little guidance and having hands that fitted where mine wouldnt she was full of pride when it booted up for the first time.

Ouch, why did you not get a 290x, more power and less money.

    Too noisy and too hot.
780gtx has 3 x 80mm fans for the model i opted for and it was on a sale as well.

Noise fair enough, but I would have waited a little lomger for the cards with the aftermarket coolers and the prices to settle.

As for heat, who cares as long as its running within its safe temps?

I guess you paid around the £400-£450 mark in on sale which does bring it more inline with what it should cost.

I do have the gigabyte windforce 7950 and will say the cooler is epic (3 fan job).

I remember i switched from nVidia to ATI years ago with a build and i had no end of graphics driver issues. Something with the registrys so had to format in the end. That helped my decision a little as well.

Heat's a big issue for me because my sound card sits directly above the graphics card. I had to remove it after i went SLI due to it getting cooked. (top card hits 98oC in some games)

I got it for £479 and hoping to salvage £200+ for my 2x 580gtx to soften the blow.

My friend has 2 of the 7950's as well with the same cooler on them as yours. After i heard how quiet they were, i decided i wanted one with a similar cooler. The 780GTX i went for is Gigabyte with the Windforce type cooler as well so meant to be good for noise and overclocking.

    Due to arrive tomorrow

The 780GTX cards are down to £400ish now due to the release of the new AMD cards. I got a nice refund from where i bougtht mines since it would have meant i'd have been £80 worse off before i'd even fitted it into my PC

Good buy on the windforce I really can't rate the cooler enough.

Its too soon for me to upgrade as my 7950 isn't stuggling with anything so I may end up skipping the 780 and x290.

I just bought a customised pc from scan its watercooled, overclocked and has the Nvidia overclocked GT780 card made by Evo. Took advantage of the drop the other day which came with 3 games. I didn't want to build my own any more plus some of the parts are cheaper than if you bought separately

Been waiting a long time for a new upgrade. My previous card is a Nvida GTX260 have to say its still fairly good

I am thinking about getting a new gaming PC - I want something extremely fast and powerful (well as powerful as budget will allow) -

Latest games such as COD, BF4, Sins of a Solar Empire and AOE I need to run without any stutter or lag whatsoever...

Ideally a core i7 processor, HIGH RAM, excellent graphic and sound cards, hard drive etc.

Do you think this is achievable on £900?

    If so any recommendations?
