i've never actually bought a complete pc before.

my first PC was a 486 SX25 which my dad got for me, and have since just continuously upgraded it.

I've never even replaced all the parts in one go

Goes to show that most gamers these days want a computer to their specifications and not the manufacturers!

I would say its a bit of both, the problem to me is the prebuilt systems never have the right balance, they only match top end graphics cards with top end CPUs, when the reality for me is mid range CPU over clocked as far as possible with a top end graphics card.

Likewise to get the processor I want they ship with very mid range graphics cards.

You can save hundreds if you shop around,

I used to build my own pc's when i was younger, and saved quite alot of money do so,

Now i still buy the components that i want like the Mobo, ram, graphics etc, and take them down to my local computer store and have them assemble and stress test it for me,

its the knowledge of knowing the quality of components inside will make it run like a beast,

at the moment it is playing Rome total war 2 on highest settings and warthunder is on the top settings also,

so its sitting pritty for 2 -3 more years, i paid 1k in total for my base unit,

    saved over £250 shopping myself

i have built my all pc's, and i think its okay if you are buying dell, hp or whatever brand out there, if you are a gamer then you will go for custom because it gives you so many options, you can upgrade its hardware when ever you want. but if you are just a normal user then its okay. and now hp and dell also has some powerful machines.

What are people's experiences with CPU water coolers? I've had two and both have failed within their warranty. Fortunately it was just the pump that went and not a leak, but still doesn't inspire confidence in their ability to last...
