I have been using the meridan almond crunchy butter. Exactly the same as normal peanut butter but almonds & nothing else. Its divine - plus i like the fact there isnt anything else in the jar but almonds !

It is a filler-a cheap way of gaining bulk.It is not ground nut based and adulterates the product. The rain forest is cut down to grow palm trees-need I say more?0 -
As always, there is another view altogether
The following is a PDF from the Adam Smith Institute. No, they don't produce palm oil, nor, unlike Greenpeace, the WWF and Friends of the Earth, are they a multi billion dollar international organisation.

Just in the interest of fairness and balance.
Why does this group seek to rebut the environmental lobby? They are a right-wing interest group who masquerade as seekers of the truth.0 -

It isnt filler. It is basically used to thicken the peanut butter, since it is very high in saturated fats. Whole Earth peanut butter has palm oil listed in the ingredients, although it is 95% peanuts which is higher peanut content than most.0 -
I'd been buying Kernel King at B&M as well and when I ran out I was happy when I discovered that Poundworld is currently selling Kernel King peanut butter at 2 for £1 - until I tried it, that is!
It's very different from the one sold in B&M in look and taste, and I also compared the list of ingredients and noticed that this one contains palm oil while the one B&M sells doesn't. I'm not sure why that is, because the jars look pretty much the same (apart from slightly different couloured labels etc.), but just a warning to everyone who thinks they might be getting a good deal: This peanut butter tastes absolutely rank and is worse than any value peanut butter I've tried.
I bought some today chuku just out of interest to try it and you are right it is awful! Poundland had it too in a different variety (reduced fat) and it was even more awful.0 -
I found suma peanut butter in my mother's local Budgens. No added salt, no added sugar, no added oil, just peanuts. Comes in smooth or crunchy varieties. Awesome stuff https://www.suma.coop0

That's really quite an incoherent response. If it were accurate it would make the converse argument sufficient ie 'Don't listen to Greenpeace, they are a far-Left advocacy group'.
What we are discussing are facts, not politics. The fact is that there are two sides to many food production issues and it is rarely the case that either side has a monopoly of the truth.0 -

Facts are politics But Aaron Smith is a naive free marketeer.0 -

Heaven preserve us all.
Adam Smith was an 18th century Scottish philosopher. In addition to his work on moral philosophy, he wrote what is probably the world's first book on economics.
The Adam Smith Institute is a libertarian/free market think tank, named in his honour.
Who 'Aaron Smith' is is anybody's guess.
Your grasp of detail does your arguments little credit.0 -
