New kitten - insure or not?

We have all 5 of our indoor cats insured with PetPlan, lifetime cover and excesses are £65. In the 2.5 years we've had our two brothers and little girl, both boys have claimed, one burned his paw on the hob (£250 worth of treatment), the other sliced his pad on a glass he fell on which smashed (treatment cost £673). Our other two joined the family later, our youngest is 10 months old and he's booked in at the vets this week to have some of his back teeth removed due to a condition he was born with (bill estimated at £200).
For us insurance is peace of mind, if any of our kids are rushed in following an accident or if they're ill, we don't have the added worry of how we'll pay for everything and they can get the best treatment they deserve.0 -
Aren't More Than the company who expect you to pay a percentage of the bill as excess? If you do decide to use them, go through topcashback or similar.
I went with Argos platinum for my tortie. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

The quote I am being given for Petplan has an excess of £95... £20 more expensive than More than.
I think I might go with More than... just wanted to make sure that they do pay up with no problems...London Fashion Week tickets, Clinique Facial treatment set (I see it as a win :P) Mario Power Tennis Wii game, Aura by Swaroski perfume, Theatre Tickets to 'A woman alone' :T, £1000 with Kerrang's Scream4Cash, Links of London Wedding Themed Bracelet, Chipmunk O2 launch party tickets, Adidas All In gig tickets, Water For Elephants Double Bill tix0 -
Is MoreThan for life same as PetPlan is?0

yes, for life...
Also, when should I start the insurance? My kitten turns 2 months tomorrow, but being a rescue kitten the date is obviously an estimate...London Fashion Week tickets, Clinique Facial treatment set (I see it as a win :P) Mario Power Tennis Wii game, Aura by Swaroski perfume, Theatre Tickets to 'A woman alone' :T, £1000 with Kerrang's Scream4Cash, Links of London Wedding Themed Bracelet, Chipmunk O2 launch party tickets, Adidas All In gig tickets, Water For Elephants Double Bill tix0 -
Definitely insure! I finally insured both my cats with petplan when they were 8. Thankfully I didn't have any previous expenses with them but it could well have been different. I pay £26 for both of them monthly, but I don't really think about it to be honest I just accept it as a monthly cost that I have to pay and know that hopefully if anything came up I would be ok.0

My main worry (apart from finding a suitable affordable cover) is to get one from a provider who won't refuse to pay out if and when needed...
hope More than are ok. The excess with Petplan is just too expensive to be honest...London Fashion Week tickets, Clinique Facial treatment set (I see it as a win :P) Mario Power Tennis Wii game, Aura by Swaroski perfume, Theatre Tickets to 'A woman alone' :T, £1000 with Kerrang's Scream4Cash, Links of London Wedding Themed Bracelet, Chipmunk O2 launch party tickets, Adidas All In gig tickets, Water For Elephants Double Bill tix0 -
Frankly - with PetPlan most vets will take direct claim if a bill is high and to me that matters.
Perhaps before you insure - ask your vet if they are happy with morethan?0 -
Just called and they said Morethan are quite good. The only thing is that Petplan also covers dentistry... hmm...London Fashion Week tickets, Clinique Facial treatment set (I see it as a win :P) Mario Power Tennis Wii game, Aura by Swaroski perfume, Theatre Tickets to 'A woman alone' :T, £1000 with Kerrang's Scream4Cash, Links of London Wedding Themed Bracelet, Chipmunk O2 launch party tickets, Adidas All In gig tickets, Water For Elephants Double Bill tix0

I have a tortie girl and she is a nightmare for the vets. So far I have taken her with 2 different reasons, this was before she reached 1!
I use pet plan my excess is £70 and they have been good.
It's probably about £400 so far I've claimed. As it's an ongoing condition it's only going to get higher0
