Just Eat & local take-away

They hide it to stop people phoning the takeaway direct and bypassing the just eat process (they get no money in that scenario).
Personally I use just eat a lot but only for cash orders as once I used a card, the food never arrived and it was a nightmare getting a refund off just eat (even though the takeaway said they lost the order and requested I be refunded). I found their call centre staff rude and unhelpful so don't risk any card orders anymore!0 -

No, order online but always pay cash on delivery - check it if you need to.
Sometimes people are at home with no ready cash and the nearest cashpoint is miles away from where they live and people either cannot be bothered to go to the cash machine (might as well go to the takeaway itself) or alternatively it would cost more in travel to the cashpoint that they might as well use their card which is cheaper0 -

ETA: on the topic of the OP... if the takeaway is so bad that they consistently get your orders wrong every time, and then complain that somehow it's your fault... I'm not sure that you're missing out by not being able to order from there any morewe have a 1 strike system - if the takeaway messes up, even once, we don't order from them again. Life is too short.
Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

None of their previous errors have been anything that really mattered. e.g. getting fish fingers in a kids meal instead of 'dinosaur shapes' as advertised on the menu; just mixing up the different things that are available in the kids meals. That's why its never bothered us. Just the errors this time had a big impact on our meal; so yes, I don't think we're really missing much by being 'banned' from ordering. We probably never would have anyway.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
I wouldn't bother with Just Eat. They don't even open on busy days, terrible business.
For anyone interested in Pakkle's complaint with Just Eat, I suggest you read this thread for the full story:

Warning!
It contains scenes of extreme distress caused to a child who couldn't have the take-away he/she wanted on Christmas Day. :eek:0 -

really and your just a wind up merchant. You already started your own thread but want to bump up old threads like this one and Tesco thread
Who really wants a takeaway on xmas day? Well maybe some chav does
Your really bored then I suggest CBBCThis is a thread about Just Eat, I am posting about Just Eat. Seems reasonable.
You on the other hand, are simply being a nuisance.0 -
This is a thread about Just Eat, I am posting about Just Eat. Seems reasonable.
But you have already detailed the circumstances in the thread you started.
Dragging up old threads just to say something similar is considered bad form.
Why don't you spend time addressing some of the comments and answering some of the questions that were posted on your thread.
For example - this one:Maybe you can explain to us what the rest of your day consisted of so we can get a sense of perspective of how immense your disappointment was.
For example, did you have a proper Xmas lunch and this takeaway was just something extra or was the takeaway your main Xmas meal?
Did this child have any Christmas presents?
Did they like the presents?
I can just imagine the sense of impending doom as you all clustered around the PC ready order a number 2 with fried rice
only to see with mounting horror that 'Sorry we're closed' sign.
If you all had a nice lunch and all the kids' presents were appreciated, maybe you all need to take a step back and get a little perspective. :rotfl:
I notice you only promised one of your children a takeaway.
What was/were the other child/children going to eat?
If you are going to drag up an old thread to simply bad mouth a company, at least have the courtesy to explain the circumstances.0 -

I'd be curious to know!
I only once ordered on Just Eat, specified a time for delivery, but it was about 20-30 minutes early. Not sure if that was the fault of the website or the takeaway though.
I suspect that's the takeaways fault. Just eat give them a time and if they don't meet it then it's the takeaways fault. They probably don't read it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
