TMD thats awful. Some years ago, in another house / lifetime, I had my garden landscaped. I had an inkling they were slacking, so I came home early one day to find them sat in the pub beer garden at the end of the road. At 2pm. They never saw me, but I wandered down there at 5 and they tried to tell me they'd only just gone "wow" says I, "that must be some beer cos you're all three sheets to the wind already! Don't come back tomorrow unless its to collect your gear"
Oddly they weren't so drunk that they remembered not to come back. 3 weeks later I left an asnwerphone message saying stuff is on end of drive and will be taken to tip if still there in 24 hours :rotfl:
Gah. Hoping my conservatory roof goes without a hitch!
Mum is here to entertain DS for a couple of hours :T best get working then, no excuses now!Bossymoo
Away with the fairies :beer:0 -
Well, yesterday I was a bit slack... ended up being sick and going back to bed after over-exerting myself shopping so very little done. Still, by some miracle the 'public' parts of the house aren't actually looking too bad so hopefully there won't be too much to catch up on today. Hugs to Mumof5, TMD and anyone I've forgotten :grouphug: If it's gone then it's done :j

Car is back from the garage, they couldn't find the source of the blower burning smell, so I think it must have resolved itself.

Hi everyone. Well my first day of maternity leave flying didn't go quite to plan. I started off well in the morning and managed to hoover the whole flat as well as a few other jobs on my list. However, as I was pausing for lunch, I had a call from the builders of my new house to say completion has been pushed back a week... so it is supposed to be ready now 5 days before the baby is due  We knew we were cutting it fine when we bought the house, but they have already pushed it back a couple of weeks, so we thought we were on a fixed date, but apparently not. After texting my partner with the news, I had a bit of a cry, then managed to ring the removal man I had provisionally booked in to change dates and just about managed not to weep down the phone to him!
Anyway, the rest of the day was a bit of a write-off, with me feeling sorry for myself. I'm feeling better today - there's nothing at all I can do about the house, and if the baby comes early, I can't do anything about that either, so there's no point stressing out about it. I have decided to prepare the baby's stuff just in case - it's currently all stuffed inside a moses basket ready to move.
Today my list looks like this:- [STRIKE]Chase up solicitor for new house[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Organise Energy Performance Certificate for flat[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Hoover and dust flat[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Ring Tesco to get some cardboard boxes[/STRIKE] - I have to go there and ask apparently
- Go through larder and meal plan what can be used up
- [STRIKE]Book hospital tour[/STRIKE]
- Wash and sort baby's hospital clothes
- Make a list for my hospital bag
- Research home insurance for new house
- Ring man about new vinyl floor in kitchen
- Spend half an hour packing up the "posh" tea set.

Wipe out the fridge, note what needs using up or restocking
30 minutes to spare..
[STRIKE]Sweep[/STRIKE] and mop[STRIKE]the floor[/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]Wipe the surfaces, removing things which don't belong here as you go[/STRIKE]
Are the spiders coming in from the cold, go on a cobweb hunt
Extra challenge:
Choose your messiest drawer and give it a good tidy, wipe out if you have the time
Renew library books, fill in that form you've been meaning too, [STRIKE]check for birthdays in the next few weeks[/STRIKE]
