Bear in mind AutoAid expect you to pay for it yourself and then reclaim it later.

I'd rather not have that outlay or hassle for the sake of a few pounds more.

So sounds like they will call out the third party, you have to pay the third party for their services and send the receipt to AI.

Doesn't sound very attractive to be honest.

    Wouldnt appeal to me either.

I can't remember in my adult life leaving the house without my keys, wallet (and hence plastic) and the mobile. As breakdown insurance is just that, peace of mind in your pocket, go with the cheapest, but well reviewed supplier available. With ownership of the big boys being on an ever decreasing cycle, no doubt some other VC will step in, buy up their fleets of (excellent) redundant recovery wagons and create a third big player!

Fair enough but what do these guys charge for a recovery for you to reclaim? £60? £80?

If my son were to break down i'd doubt he would have that amount in his bank account as hes a student.

And £80 could easily be 1/3 of someones weekly take home pay which could be quite a dent.

Yes, its a good price for cover, but to me it just adds hassle, and i know to a lot of people it could be a financial inconvenience they dont need, particularly when if their car has just broken down they'll need to fork out for a repair too.

Not arguing with you as I can see the point of it entirely, but it is worth flagging that its a pay and reclaim service which may not suit a lot of people.

For me personally motorguy has hit the nail on the head with regards to the pay and reclaim type cover
