Have you set up your emails using mac mail yet? That's what it is for, to access your emails and store them offline.

Gmail and Yahoo offer IMAP or POP3 access to your email. Google for, for example "Gmail IMAP OSX" and get the procedure.

No, I've never used the mac mail as I didn't know what it was for. When I bought my mac I continued to access my email accounts in the usual way. Thanks guys!

Look above, I explained how Gmail had an offline mail so using chrome browser.

It would be worth getting Mozilla Thunderbird and setting up that to download your emails, disconnect from the net, read and reply and then re-connect to send the emails. It shouldn't take more than a few seconds online for basic text messages.

You do need to setup the email accounts in Thunderbird and ensure that the accounts are working before you go.

I didn't mention but Thunderbird is freeware and there is a Mac OSX version. There are also loads of extensions and dictionaries so you can add anything extra that you need.

Or just use mac mail which comes already installed on the OP's mac.
