I remember first using a computer for Microbiological testing. We had to put all the figures in on the computer VERY carefully and it spat out binary computer tape that had to be sent off to a "super" computer, at great cost to compute how strong the anti-biotic etc. was. The HUGE computer at the factory, in a probably 40ft x 50ft room wasn't powerful enough to compute this. Nowadays our mobile phones would probably easily do it. I was at the cutting edge when I bought a computer to print out all my monthly invoices in the 80's - In truth I couldn't type except with 1 finger and was damned if I was typing new invoices every month to numerous people so it was a no-brainer for me!
The first time I saw a FAX machine document I was in awe! We could read a document sent over a telephone cable and see it exactly the same as it looked the other side!
Digital cameras - amazing! When hubby & I met online they were too prohibitively expensive and rare to have a personal one.
SO many changes in my lifetime.
