Freeview all scrambled?

We have been watching Freeview for a while no problems, about 3 days ago all the main channels went off? then came on again after a while...

But channels now like ITV3 (010), Quest (038) are very scrambled jumpy and broken up??

We have never had this before.

I did do a full Digital re-scan of channels from scratch and its still the same? Also now a believe a few channels are missing??

I cannot now find ITV4 at all?

Anyone know whats happened out of the blue or how to reset and get everything working again?

    I would check the aerial, it may have moved.
    I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

    Internal or external aerial?
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Try a mains reboot of the TV or STB (whichever is your Freeview receiver).

    If channels are still missing you may need to clear the memory of your digital box before retuning. Make sure it is turned off and unplug the aerial from your digital box or TV. Turn on the equipment again and retune without the aerial; your box or TV won’t find any channels. Turn off the equipment again and plug the aerial back in. After restoring the power, do a full retune using the ‘first time installation’ option (sometimes called ‘default’ or ‘factory settings). You should find your channels return. If you are not certain about how to do a full retune of your equipment, check your manual for instructions. This should work give it a go and let us know.

    Location? Check your transmitter for faults at http://www.ukfree.tv/starthere.php

    Check with neighbours to see if they have similar problems.

    NEVER retune if you lose digital channels in the event of a transmitter breakdown - it makes the receiver lose the placeholders and requires another retune once things are restored. {You should never have done it for analogue either but that's digressing ;) }

    However, it is actually quite unlikely that the big 6 multiplex transmitters will have a fault that affects reception for any length of time. Which makes it more likely to be a connection or similar issue. So do check all the plugs and sockets are properly made off and firmly seated.

    Looks like this procedure worked and ITV4 is back and it looks like it found 127 channels/items.

    But ITV4 is now really scrambled? , ITV3 and Quest are now fine though?
