Car Accident - Cogent and Law help?

I had a car accident where I was stationary in queuing traffic on motorway a driver drove into the back of me and has damaged the rear of my car.
The result of the accident has jarred my left knee and caused pain in my neck.
I called my insurance company about the damage to my vehicle (which will be sorted out no problem) but when asked about injuries they explained Cogent and Law would be appointed to investigate the case.
Has anyone ever heard of this company? Do I have to use them or should I get my own solicitor?
I do not want to jump on this No win No fee bandwagon but my injuries are genuine and concerning.
Any advice would be appreciated!

You are entitled to appoint your own solicitor.
Though it may be you are being provided with a solicitor as part of a legal cover add on you have, in which case you may be better off with them as your own solicitor can take up to 25% of your compensation.0 -
Cogent law has just dealt with a car accident injury for my partner. Can't fault them. Really did their best to get the best settlement for him. Always available when we called and you can keep track of what's happening with your case through their website.0

Then ignore your injuries and cancel the claim and you can limp around in the satisfaction of knowing you took the moral high ground .
Or you can get on the bandwagon and male sure you do not lose out financially.
There is only one wagon .Be happy...;)0 -

Good to know thanks! I guess that's why I added legal protection to my policy. It was one of these things that I had a quick scan of reviews on Cogent and some were not great but its human nature to only look at bad ones! Hence why I wanted personal reviews on here!0 -

Been involved in a RTA myself and just started proceedings with them but would be good to hear your experiences?0 -

Been really impressed so far. The insurance company completely sorted out my car. They organised physio which has been great and slowly getting me back on my feet. The solicitors have been in touch regularly and will be in touch again once the physio has been completed.0 -

There is a bandwagon that specialises in exploiting and exaggerating injury claims in order to cream off 25% of the compensation, and there is the regular service wagon which pursues clients' legitimate claims.
The OP has been reassured that the company suggested to him is in the latter category. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I was in a RTA as a passenger (named driver) it wasnt our fault, other driver admitted liabilty.
I am still having treatment!
As for Cogent LAW......KEEP AWAY!!!
I have to SUE FOR NEGILENCE!!!
They LIED TO THE COURTS, DELETE FILES !!! I knew nothing. They never kept me updated!!. I wrote to them several times a year, everytim I had treatment etc, and asked for updates - NO REPLIES. I made complaints to them - NO REPLIES. In the end I complained several times to OMBUDSMAN!! eventually got a reply.....no not truth!!
Was told a questionnaire was not submitted, Then went to COURT and FOUND OUT THE TRUTH!!!!!
SO NO COMP Judge tells me to sue for Negilience and Comp.
They should'nt be able to delete files as measure are in place - but they were! - NOT just MINE - BUT other clients too!!!0 -

I used Cogent following a similar situation. Direct Line recommended them, and I took them up on a vetted offer rather than finding my own 'ambulance chaser'.
I found their service quick & easy. They have a web log in that allows you to contact them with ease and monitor the progress of your claim.
They had me in physio within days.
All in all a good experience and I would suggest you go with them.
Don't expect it to be quick though. Took me about a year to get my claim settled. However, it couldn't have been easier from my part.
Hope you make a full recovery.
