Pre-reg Car query

Hello All,

I bought a 'pre-reg' Fiat Panda a couple of weeks ago, 7 miles on the clock and £2000 off list price for a new card.

Everything was fine until the V5 turned up yesterday and it's had 2 previous owners. I admit that I never thought to ask how many owners the car had had but I had assumed that pre-reg meant 1 owner (the dealer).

I know this isn't a massive problem - particularly as I intend to keep the car for a while, but do you think I should complain?

You can complain if you wish, pre registered , previously owned, are all posh ways of saying 2nd hand. If you are going to keep the car for a whle then it doesn't matter especially the time you come to sell it.

Have to admit with 7 miles on the clock I would be very interested in why there was 2 previous owners.....
  • 7 miles would deliver mileage. Not sure people worry about how many owners a car has had ... anyway as you say you're going to keep it for a while. Enjoy your car!

7 miles on the clock could be considered to being brand new. I'm also puzzled to why the V5 shows 2 previous owners though. Only thing I can think of is that it is due to failed finance on the car. Or is it the pre-revamped version? The Panda has recently been given a face lift.

Because when you come to sell in the future it raises questions. A 2-3 year old car with 3 owners would make me think twice.

Maybe worth dropping a line to the garage detailing the 7 miles on the clock and asking who the previous owner was. You can then show the correspondence when you come to sell if there is any concern.

Owners? Keepers really mean nothing - failed sales are the usual reason, assuming the 1st keeper was the garage? As others note, if you don't plan to sell quickly, it not really a consideration.

And in that 0.4 milliseconds you'd realise it was not an issue as it was to do with the pre-registration of the car.

OP- Take a photo of the dash speedo with the mileage and try to get the V5 showing the number of keepers in the shot then in the future if any perspective buyer questions you you can always bring out the photo.

Enjoy your new car! £2k of list for only 7 miles, very MSE.
