wanted: granny or grandad

we want to adopt a granny or grandad for our 2 yr old little boy!

warm hugs, big smiles, sticky kisses in return for love and advice!

It might be a greatgrand as I kinda want my own Grandma and/or Grandad having lost all of mine when i was in my early teens.

I want LO to grow up with plenty of contact with people of all ages. We're a bit thin on the ground for relations who live closer than 3 hrs drive - and who have any time to spare for him or us.

Would love to visit, help with shopping etc

there must eb some older people out there who dont' have grandbairns of their own who would like a little company.

I think this is a great idea. Good luck in finding someone I'm sure that both they & your little boy will benefit.

    Hello Broken Hearted

A good idea, but be very careful who you let into your life! and never leave your child with a stranger. You probably wouldn't I know, but these days there are so many predaters out there. I have just become a grandparent and the thought of anyone hurting my little one would tear me apart.

Perhaps speak to a local care home and see if they would perhaps let him visit for a day to chat to people? They might let him pop in every now and again to say hello :)

I agree with Maypole. My Mum adopted a Granny for my sister and me when both of our grandmothers died when we still very young. Adopted Granny's husband turned out to be a career criminal and we were burgled the first holiday we went on.

    Be very careful!

Would love a granny for my kids as we have no family round here.

I've often thought of that :)

How nice would it be to take a few toddlers into a quiet care home for an hour. Imagine the chaos it would cause :rotfl:

I reckon there are lots of old people out there in care homes who get no visitors and an hour or 2 once a week from some toddlers would bring them back to life :)

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • I think its a great idea!! Go for it!!! but like the others say be careful. Try the local lucheon club or meeting place as they are usually very welcoming and at least there you are on neutral teritory until you are all happy. We adopted an old lady around the corner from us 'Aunty Betty was about 78 and we had met her at a few community things and then we walked passed her house, which she had just come home to find it broken into. We stayed with her until the police had all sorted out and her son had made it check on her. From then on once a week we popped in for a cup of tea and a piece of cake. It was so sad when she passed away a few months ago. My oldest still walks by and runs to her door for cake!!!
Proud to be sorting my life out!
