Sports direct closing down??

Options
The mrs has just come in from a day out with the kids, while she was out she called into our local branch of sports direct to use a gift card we have, when she arrived the windows were full of closing down sale signs, saying everything must go.

Is this a gimmick for clearing stock, or are they actually closing down, has anyone noticed this with their local branch?

Never go near them, but can't believe they're closing, they're one of the high street stores doing well out of the recession. I suspect it's just that store closing, cynically, it could even be a negotiating ploy if the rent is due for review (although I've no evidence to support that).

They've just converted an old JJB to a Sports Direct in Llandudno, I doubt they would have done that if they were closing.
The store she went in could be closing or relocating.

  • Might it not be one of those CLOSING DOWN for refit or CLOSING DOWN for relocation sales, where the latter words are in a tiny font?

Would that be Hanley store by any chance? I heard that they were relocating to the old JJB store on the Octagon retail park in October.

our local Sports Direct are always having Closing Down Sales/Everything Must Go Sales.

Its just a marketing gimmick like SCS where they have continuous sales.

They "close down" every day. Then reopen the next day with another "closing down" sale.
