Virgin Media - Date Protection Breach
Denton101
Hi, I'm currently with VM and in the process of moving house, so far they've cut me off early and overcharged me, both of there issues have now been resolved!
Last week VM called my home and spoke to my partner to confirm our moving date, as the date had just changed she changed the new installation date.
The account with VM is in my name and not my partners, and when she spoke to VM she didn't give the account password as she doesn't know it.
Is this a data protection breach, and if so what do I do?

I wouldn't report my partner, but should the caller from VM been discussing my accout with someone other then the account holder.0

They called your number to confirm your moving date!I wouldn't report my partner, but should the caller from VM been discussing my accout with someone other then the account holder.
Hardly sensitive financial information or changes to your account is it?
What are you expecting? "Compo"?0 -
I'm not expecting any compensation, but they did make a change to my account without my consent, ok it was just my moving date, but they could have changed more.0

Data protection applies to personal data. It would be stretching a point to say that should include a removal date.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Some people really will complain about the smallest things.0

How is confirming your moving date a "change" to your account? They already had the information and wanted confirmation, no? Did your partner change the date? Did this cause you any kind of inconvenience at all?they did make a change to my account without my consent
If you're not after compensation and don't want to report your partner for a data protection breach then what exactly are you trying to achieve?
Not without the password and other security they couldn't.they could have changed more.
You appear to be simply making a deliberately vexatious complaint...0 -

I'm sure it was a date protection breach - after all they did change it, but is there legislation to protect dates?:D:D0
