Hi I have found out that I live on soak away land so I applied for a water rebate with Thames Water, they knew the property was on soak away land so they agreed to rebate me from the 1 April 2013 my bill has dropped by £20.00 a month, can I get a rebate for all the previous years and how do I do this

From previous posts on here it only applies from when you apply they dont apply it retrospectively.

    Welcome to the forum.

There have been literally hundreds of posts on MSE about claiming a reduction for Surface Water Drainage(SWD).

However I have never heard of anyone paying £240 for SWD - are you sure the £20 reduction is all for SWD?

Up until recently the rebate would not be granted retrospectively and the Regulator's(OFWAT) instructions were firm about this matter.

However there has recently been a change in Ofwat's wording on this matter and if the water company should have known you should have not been paying for SWD they might backdate claims.

How they define 'should have known' is not clear.

There are a couple of threads of this section where someone has claimed back for previous years. As far as I can remember he is the only person to succeed - although loads have tried.
