Asda car insurance - a warning

I haven'y anything to hide, as one or two have implied.
It's just
a. I anticipate poss hassle getting written proof of NCD
b. My licence is EU not UK - I did declare this of course, but slight concern they will try to make some sort of issue out of this.
Your proof of NCD is the renewal notice that you should recently have received.
I wasn't suggesting anything , just pointing out that different insurers have different procedures.
Just imagine you sign up with an insurer, they don't pre-check your paperwork, and when you need to claim you find out that the insurance is void because you inadvertently make a mistake when applying ??Surely most insurers check these things electronically; i've never been asked for them before.
No, most insurers don't check them electronically.....that would be more time and expense for them.
They have set up a policy for you so you are now subject to admin charges.
Is there any reason why you think you will have an issue with the NCD , when applying you only put down what you have written proof of. Have you not received your renewal yet ?0 -
CT....am afraid a lot of insurance companies are up to all sorts of tricks....just so happens this is with ASDA.....0

7, At No time did they request a copy of my License,
The facts list in the link posted by dacouch clearly shows that they ask for both.0 -

Yes, but then, in the rambling, largely irrelevant and badly cut-and-pasted reply I've just had, it says" you are not required to send in you Licence unless specifically requested to do so".
so they don't seem very sure!0 -

That's a very good point.
But I still feel they should make it clear that this is the case, not hide it in small print and then spring it on you the moment you've paid!0 -
When I renewed my Motorcycle insurance and changed insurance companies I had to send proof of NCD and copies of my license.
Not sure if the reward with regards to complaining and kicking up a stink outweighs the effort of just sending them the proof they want so you can carry on fully insured with your life as normal.0 -
Quite often it's just an audit process checking occasional policies.
Remember insurance companies apart from claims which are shared on cue rely on the customers upholding utmost good faith which themselves to get the right premium. Obviously from time to time people forget/ lie to get cheaper policies.. So the audit process tried to narrow down the lies by selecting for validation of things like Ncd etc.
in this case Asda seem to want it for everyone as part of their process in making sure the policy info is accurate.
If you bought it online then I'm sure it will say normally where we need proof of Ncd we would also require licenses etc!
I do know in some cases the v5 being checked also!0 -
Well, I should report back that when I phoned to cancel - they refused to do it by e-mail - they were actually fine about it and promised a FULL refund with no admin fee, as the policy hadn't started.
So, all's well that ends well.........Now to find another insurer0
