Do you even have a 'policy' as such if it is not due to start for another three weeks?

Are you asking in relation to the cancellation charge?

The policy has been issued, even though the start date is in the future. Thus you have a policy, but have not yet started to be covered.

Most insurers will ask you to post them proof of NCD when you change to them. It's not a threat, it's not something to get stressed about, it's business.
I shop around each year with my insurance and in the last 5 years I've always been asked for proof.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

  • This is the first year in 10 years of having my own policy that I haven't been asked to send a hard copy of my NCB.

I haven'y anything to hide, as one or two have implied.
    It's just
    a. I anticipate poss hassle getting written proof of NCD
    b. My licence is EU not UK - I did declare this of course, but slight concern they will try to make some sort of issue out of this.

Therefore I would rather cancel now, before it starts, than risk them deciding to cancel it, which (as they so kindly point out) I would then have to disclose to others.
There are, I now discover, lots of anecdotes out there about them doing this for what sound like fairly flimsy reasons.

Anyway, thanks all for the comments.

Anyway, thanks all for the comments.

Is this not normally just the renewal notice sent from your previous insurer? I'm reasonably sure this is all I've ever been required to send.
