www.findcheappetrol.com instead of aapetrolbusters

this website is listed in a article today(saturday) in the times.
It looks like it may be a replacment to aapetrolbusters, but it is updated by motorists. If the prices looks wrong just contact them with the correct ones. The more people that support this site the more accurate the prices will be and we will all benefit.

It also has a petition you can sign about fuel duty....

"We would like you to sign our petition as below. The petition will be presented to the leaders of all of the National political parties on Tuesday 3rd May 2005 - this will give them 24 hours to respond with their proposals on fuel duty. We expect there to be widespread media interest in their comments!"

Their petition isn't very good at quoting fuel prices.

The difference was less than half what was quoted - diesel in UK 82.9p, in France or Germany €0.99 to €1.10 = 70 to 77p

rather less than the 28 pence they mention; what is the point of asking for an end to something fictitious?

    - and in some countries, petrol is more expensive than here

Does signing the petition get you spam email from Friends Reunited?

waste of space - all the garages round here are listed 2 or 3 times; unleaded is 84.9 everywhere, no other prices shown and
Help us to help you - do you use this garage? - are our prices correct (or if no prices are shown, please can you let us know the current prices)

I hope not. I have to admit I haven't signed the petition. I just plan to just use the website to check on fuel prices now that aapetrolbusters is no more.

Their privacy policy has no declaration of content on the page that my privacy policy (SpywareBlaster, Spybot S&D) has blocked, namely Friends Reunited and on another page Genes Reunited.

I trust these programs. I'm not sending any emails.

Fair point. How about just updating fuel prices when you see them. I just had a look at this and it loks like you just type in the price of fuel for a particular garage. It would be interesting to know how they veriified this.

Anyone know of any other sites that offer this?

If not can't this be added onto MSE. I know this has been discussed in the past but with so many people using this site. I'm sure we could keep prices reasonably up to date

  • Thanks for giving our website and petition a mention in this thread.

We are dependent on the site users submitting the correct prices in your area, and hundreds of users are doing this every day.

The figures for reduction in fuel duty were supplied to us by a European Parliament document - just because fuel is not cheaper in other countries by the figures quoted does not mean our figures on fuel duty are incorrect - fuel companies will charge whatever the local market allows - after all they have to make their billions in profits from somewhere.

Before mass paranoia sets in, your email address WILL NOT be passed to anyone else - including Friends Reunited. The reason that your over zealous spyware detector has detected Friends Reunited is that they display a banner ad on some of our pages and that ad plants a cookie on your PC. This is solely so they can track ad effectiveness if you subsequently join Friends Reunited - there is no personal information held.

One further point, if you use our tell a friend feature, we do not store those email addresses anywhere, they are simply used once only to send an email inviting them to sign the petition.

Obviously if you don't feel happy with it don't sign - but surely anyone interested in money saving wants to reduce the price of UK fuel.

Thanks for clarifying those points. The anti-spyware may be over-zealous, but it has chosen to list these products for a reason, presumably to do with their conduct, but I appreciate that you are not responsible for that.

I read this morning that the lorry-drivers plan disruptive action 2 days before the election; presumably we will be treated to more misinformation about fuel prices everywhere abroad that most people are unable to check.

Is it possible that you can modify the multiple appearance entries?

How about find cheap petrol in Makro stores? If you drive a diesel, 20 litres of veggie oil for a tenner. I'm afraid of using this in my var though as its a tuned PD engine and has much more refined injection system. However, for 50p a litre its hell of a saving for anyone else... (usual legal / customs requirements apply :))
    Money saving:
Buy a Skoda. Laugh at the VWs who paid several grand more
Its a diesel. 50mpg - laugh at all the petrols
Its a tuned 260bhp diesel - laugh at them in the rearview mirror as they vanish
