Google is your friend :). Check it out. It's where my soul is.

Smilies are available by pressing the Go Advanced button at the foot of the text box you are typing into.

By the way, they don't have a cumpy grunt 'smiley'; they won't give me one in case I wear it out :rotfl:

Yep - have visited a number of times, but my soul lives there permanently.

Now, we need to stop all this a-huggin' and a-kissin' touchee feelee stuff and get down to the business of sorting out your PCN.

There is always some niggling doubt in the back of my mind when parking tickets are given at Railway Stations, because railway bye laws can kick in and these make matters more troublesome, because you're not dealing with a civil case anymore, it's a criminal one. (Sorry, didn't mean to put you off your pizza!).

So first thing tomorrow would you take a close look at your ticket and let us know whether there is any reference to Railway Bye Laws or if the word PENALTY is used. In which case we need to proceed differently.

I'm going to be out for most of tomorrow and may not be on the forum at all (it's the one day off a month that MSE says that I can take :rotfl:), so could be Monday - but others will be around.

We've got a current thread running on a Railway case here:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4759096

Then the other potential fly in the ointment is the fact that, unlike most PPCs, NCP do own a number of car parks themselves, and again we need to possibly proceed differently if that is the case here.

Back as soon as I can :)

  • :rotfl:Lol yes let's get back to the business in hand.

Sorry only just had a chance to get on here today so didn't see your message this morning.

"There is always some niggling doubt in the back of my mind when parking tickets are given at Railway Stations, because railway bye laws can kick in and these make matters more troublesome, because you're not dealing with a civil case anymore, it's a criminal one."

Oooh that sounds scary! I don't use that car park on a regular basis, just every now and again which is why I took the credit card receipt instead of the ticket! (Twit!) I am at work tomorrow and Tuesday and won't be going anywhere near that car park but I can go over there on Wednesday and have a look at the notices. I will take photos too.

There is nothing on the PCCN about Bye Laws or Penalties. It says "Notice of breach of terms and conditions of parking at a car park owned or managed by NCP Ltd". I supposed this could still mean that it is owned by the Rail company?

I am about to serve dinner (a woman's work is never done!) so I will go to the link you have posted for me later and have a read.

Thanks for your help. Have a good day off tomorrow!
    :)

Hi Mumania, hope you've, by now, also sorted out the washing up :)

The fact the ticket didn't mention bye laws and/or penalties (and I think NCP would be on the ball on this one) is more encouraging news.

Photos of signs (particularly at the entrance - especially if there are none) would be helpful. Here's how to upload images to the forum:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1690399

I don't know the location at which you were ticketed - no need to say here - but if you can Google, or phone the station to check whether or not the car park is owned by NCP, it would be helpful for further advice.

Looking more like waiting for NtK - but take above action meantime. You also need to start getting au fait with POPLA appeals, so have a good read around these, particularly the last few pages:

I've had a good day off today; next MSE-approved one is mid-October :rotfl:

NCP don't issue real bylaw tickets so treat it like a normal fake PCN and wait for the Notice to Keeper (October/Nov), and ONLY THEN send a challenge once you have read the forum a bit more:

  • Thanks so much both of you for your further advice. I have been working (extras days this week due to a colleague's sickness) so I've not been anywhere near the car park but will do so on Friday or at the weekend. In the meantime I will start to look at the links you have both suggested.

Oh and your wonderful leader - Mr. Martin Lewis is just on the One Show - tell him from me he looks very handsome in that royal blue jumper!! ;-)

    Thanks again!
