So what you are saying is we should all speed through towns and villages to prevent accidents? :T0 -
I sense conflicting views from the same people here?
On the one hand, the effectiveness of these courses is called into question...and on the other, elsewhere there is a constant call for driver education.
Which is it to be?
Perhaps the courses would have a better impact if the driver concerned, having opted for what many see as the easy option..then is held more severely accountable on any subsequent speeding offence?
And by 'more severely', I don't mean simply not being given the option once more? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

That's the most idiotic justification for speeding I have ever heard.0 -
Personally I'm all in favour of speed awareness courses, since they will work for some people. Not everyone by any means, but it is worth a try. I understand where you're coming from alaistairq, but I think I'd be worried that the threat of stiffer future penalities would put people who might benefit off the courses.0

I agree, in retrospect.....an example of which I note earlier in the thread, with reference to Insurer's responses to the courses? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
The only insurance group who asks about the courses is Admiral, and even these may be prevented from doing so in the future.
Ive been on one of the courses and since havent done any speeding. It made me think and i am saver driver since the course. I an glad i did and still have a clean licence. Also points mean higher insurance premiums. Its a no brainer for me.0 -

Have you actually tried putting your details through a comparision insurance site with 0pts and 3pts? For me it makes no difference whatsoever.
If I was ever unfortunate enough to be caught then any decision to attend a SAC would be based purely on economic criteria.0
