Can I still claim compensation even though we've already been given air miles?

Hi, we were on a flight from the uk to Australia earlier this year which was delayed for 4 hours. The airline was quick to offer everyone airmiles as compensation, which we accepted as we were unaware of the EU rules on compensation. Would we still be entitled to monetary compensation as we've already accepted this? Many thanks for any advice.
