question re PAC code(s)

I've done many porting before, but I've been asked a tricky question by a friend, would appreciate if anyone can help.
My friend has 3 x monthly contracts on Orange, and want to port them all away. Orange gave just 1 PAC and said this applies to all 3 mobile numbers.
Is this correct? I would have thought 1 unique PAC per porting. Or could it be 1 unique pair of PAC & mobile number?
Spoke to a different ORange CS and got the same reply. Not convinced

I have heard of people with two lines being given one PAC, get your friend to call the new network and give them the PAC and mention the three numbers and see what they say. It could be a problem if you wanted to take the numbers to different networks, or does the PAC work along with the number/sNearly debt free

Yep, I phoned up Virgin and asked if its possible to port 3 different no.s across with the same PAC. The answer is yes. As long as Orange confirmed they have allocated the same PAC for all 3 numbers.0

The PAC is just a reference number on the main MNP system that all the phone companies access, I guess it's just the same as say Amazon issuing a single order number for multiple packages in an order. If they were going to different places you'd need seperate 'orders', if it's a job lot they can tie them undera single reference that both the donor and receiver telco can see0

Still about PACs, can you still use your old phone/normal number once you get the PAC?
Because I want to minimise the transfer time, and I was thinking of getting the PAC soon, so that when I buy the new phone I can immediately call the network to give them the PAC, and only have 1 week with 'new/temporary' number.
is it possible?
I know PACs are valid for 1 month, but it was the usage of old number that I was wondering about.Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -
ScarletBea, The whole thing about a PAC is that you can transfer your old/existing mobile number to another network, you would always be using your mobile number it my just not work for a short while on the day the transfer takes place.
Regarding your phone as long as your handset is not locked to your mobile network your new sim should work in it fine.Nearly debt free
