Upgrading to BT Infinity when under contract

Options
Hi

I am currently on an unlimited anytime calls and broadband option 3 deal with bt which I get on a discounted deal at the moment until my contract ends in Feb.

I just phoned up BT to ask if I could upgrade to Infinity 2 and was told yes on a 18 month contract but I would not get any discount and have to pay the full £26 per month. After a quick chat with this manager this came down to £24 per month.

Am I wasting my time trying to get an upgrade deal as I am currently in contract with BT? What I would like them to do is apply the same % discount I am getting against the Infinity 2 service

I would read all the comments people have made on the MSE Phone and Internet message boards before you even think of doing the above. If you do decide to go ahead, do it via the live chat option so you have the conversation in writing. NEVER sign up to any new contract with BT with the call centre staff over the phone.

That is really good advice. I recently asked BT about upgrading to infinity if it came available in my area during the 18 month broadband contract. They said I could upgrade without penalty but advised me to wait until I'd had the best of the current offer (e.g. 6mths half-price) before choosing to upgrade. I would have to upgrade at the advertised price for everybody.

However, I've seen online somewhere (can't remember where but if it comes back to me will let you know) that new infinity customers upgrading from unlimited broadband could still claim a Sainsburys gift voucher. I don't think I dreamed that but if I did then sorry. ;)
Former MSE user - I don't post on MSE anymore, or respond to PMs. I would like to be able to officially set profile to "former user" which would be helpful as it seems you can never leave MSE - just choose not to use it!
