Premium Bonds

So just to fan the flames, is there any real evidence to support the claim that newer premium bond numbers win the bulk of the prizes on offer each month?
This from the NS&I site:Common myths
Myth 3: Only new Bonds win prizes
Each £1 Bond has an equal chance of winning, regardless of when or where it was bought. Bonds bought more recently may seem to win more often because there are more new Bonds than old – more Bonds have been sold in the last six years than in the previous 48 put together.
Myth 4: Old Bonds are left out of the draw
Winning numbers are generated randomly and then matched against eligible Bond numbers afterwards – numbers aren’t entered into or stored in ERNIE so there’s no way that any Bonds can be left out of the draw.

I bought £100 of PB to soften the blow of stopping playing the lottery and the first month I was in I won £25! So I'm happy with prizes so far0

You're right, the government keeps all the money, we never went to the moon, and Elvis lives a quiet life in Hemel Hempstead.

I think there are several reasons there is less publicity for PB winners, some have already been mentioned, another one is that the maximum prize is not anywhere near as large as the lottery wins.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I've had 5000 in and won £1075 in total........over 13 years.
I've had much better performance from my PEP/ISA funds but no miniscule chance of that 100K or million with them!0 -
I'm sure many posters from the SE have houses worth significantly more than £1 million. Do you see them seeking publicity?;)In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
