Cost of tyre replacement
Hi,
I have a tyre near the legal limit which will need replacing; the other three are absolutely fine.
What should I be looking, all in, to pay for the tyre to be replaced, including anything else they need to do on top (tracking/alignment?). I've never had to have a tyre replaced before or had to have anything but an MOT done! (They may see me coming!)
My tyres are 205/55/R16 91V and all four existing tyres are Bridgestone Turanza.
Thanks!

Get a matched tyre. Should be looking at around £80-100 for a Bridgestone in that size I'd guess.
Preferably get two in a matched pair, especially if the spare is not great and one of the other tyres has less than 5mm left.0 -
Thanks.
The others have lots of tread, I'd guess more than 5mm. Also I do very few miles, should have said, which is why the car never needs anything doing!
Spare is a spacesaver unfortunately.0 -
£71 from Blackcircles, fully fitted. I'm sure others are available
What are you doing that ends up with one tyre nearing 1.6mm and the other 3 above 5mm? Definitely worth having a look at your tracking.0 -

Not sure, I don't have any other problems, no pulling etc. but it is in a much worse state than the others.0 -
You need to make a decision on whether you want a premium, mid range or budget. Do your homework. Black circles is a good site to get a general feel, but ring round your local garages. Remember ATS and others will come to your home/work which may be better.
Personally I tend to stick with what's on it when new or stick michelins on them. I won't put cheap tyres on cars though.

Front left by any chance, car driven mainly around town ? Taxi tyre syndrome, front left wears out more quickly as it does more mileage than the front right due to roundabouts.0

Front right and almost exclusively city driving.
I've had the tyres since I bought it, but it was bought used, 4 years old, and that was 2 years ago.0 -

I now buy my tyres online from Camskill, once delivered I then go to my local back street tyre company and pay £8 per tyre to have them fitted and balanced.
Found you one for £55.80 inc VAT. (See link below)

There is more scope for there being differences in tread due to a punctured tyre being replaced then. E.g. front left got a puncture and was replaced so that it had more tread than front right. Both fronts now worn down through your use, but front right will need replacing first.I've had the tyres since I bought it, but it was bought used, 4 years old, and that was 2 years ago.0
