Really surprised to see Jamie's money saving meals book being offered as a freebie on this site .!
The rich little z- lister put all poor people into a bracket with his filthy comments about big televisions and eating healthy , whilst having his pasta sauces that were found to have 10 times as much salt as a bag of ready salted crisps lining his pockets on supermarket shelfs up and down the country. He also labelled all Brits lazy with his comments towards who works in his kitchens . If anyone saw the first programme of his 'Money saving meals' series , would you seriously have those ingredients in your fridge in the first place ? He continues to make a quick buck with his attempts at 'poor people's cookery' whilst never having experienced a day of real poverty in his life . His recipes with a 'Lug' of extra virgin olive oil would be more expensive with that 'lug' than someone trying to make ends meet week in week out. I for one will enter anything and everything but this was one giveaway where my morals stood firm !

LOL Nice rant. I don't like him either, they should try paying people to take his books of their hands rather than giving them free.0

Great rant!! My friend's daughter calls him Jamie Oliveoil due to the amount he uses.
I had one of his books for christmas once, never used it couldn't even give it away so it ended up in charity shop. Then I was given one as a freebie last year, I gave it straight to the next raffle. Wonder if it's still doing the raffle rounds along with that now antique bottle of mulled wineBe not so busy making a living that you forget to make a life0 -
Not bothered about him but you would think that MSE could at least get the title set up in the correct E: format.0

I have a couple of his books but prefer Nigella and Delia personally.
Tried his meals in 30 minutes or whatever it was called. Took ages just to collect all the ingredients.
But I do have plenty of olive oil at home;)0 -
There are a lot worse people in the world than Jamie Oliver. You're slagging him off for using olive oil? Big deal. He talks passionately about food and was spot on about the families with big TV's, (and stomachs), who's kids were eating utter c**p.
He obviously loves his family to bits and provides well for them. Good for him, maybe we should all take a leaf out of his book!!Pants0 -
there's a thread about the programme under the old style money saving section - some great rants there. I didn't watch the programme as I think I have cooking on a tight budget down to a fine artproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

Cant stand him either so im with you there with your rant
my issues with him started when he was on about healthy meals and snacks at school and because of that my sons previous school banned all sweets and crisps for snacks, maybe not an issue for some but i gave my son who has diabetes a bag of crisps for his snack as that was the only thing that stopped his blood sugar dropping, had to get the consultant and diabetes nurse onto them, things were bad anyway with them but eventually got it sorted.
So since then i cant stand him one bit, he just doesnt have a clue! sorry thats my mini rant for the day as well :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Is there really any need to be so bitter towards the man? The concept of the TV show probably came for the program creators so you might want to have a swipe at them too.
For someone like me, who can spend up to £100 a week on food because I'm not an adventurous or willing cook, the recipes are great!
Oh and just so you know, extra virgin olive oil is less than a fiver in Aldi. His programs aren't aimed at those making ends meet, they're intended more for middle class people looking to cut down on their expenditure.
At the end of the day, if you don't like him, don't watch his programs, I don't see what an internet vendetta against him will achieve.Started 30/08/2011Biggest Wins: GHD's, 5* Trip to London, VIP Trip to Isle of MTV Festival in Malta.
Thanks so much to all who post0 -
He labels Brits as "Fat and lazy", but have you seen how plump he's looking nowadays?!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090

He's done more to highlight crap food than anyone else in this country and just because he has money now, he hasn't always had it. Granted I thought the meals on his new programme expensive but he's still done inspirational cooking in the past - I don't understand bashing someone just because they have money... seems bitter.0
