A friend mentioned in passing that a grandparent can get upto £700 if they look after their grand children. Is this true????
Could you post a web link to more details or do you know where you need to go to apply?
Thanks

Oh, if only............I would be rolling in it:rotfl:
Costs me money to look after my little grandchild. Still, her little smiling face is reward enough.0

I imagine a grandparent could charge as much, but I have never heard of any such entitlement.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

            I don't get it!
You can claim child benefit and tax credits as you would normally if you are the one with care of the child(ren). Depending on circumstances EG, were social services involved in placing the children with you, then you can get a kinship fostering allowance, and if the parent(s) have died then you may be able to claim guardians allowance.0

I think the OP means can childcare vouchers be paid to grandparents providing childminder like care.
I've no idea of the answer, mind.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I assumed it is where the children were going to be put in foster care but family took them instead. It's only in the saddest of circumstances AFAIK.0

They can get NI stamps towards their state pension contributions. I think that's what the OP is talking about.0

Info on grandparents kinship fostering here, although I'm not sure it's waht the OP is looking for. http://www.grandparents-association.org.uk/wb/welfare-benefits-and-local-authority-allowances-for-grandparents-and-other-extended-family-members-raising-children.html................. ....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 ....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0

Grandparents usually can't get childcare vouchers paid to them as they are related to the child or children being looked after, and this is usually a condition of exclusion.
 Just to clear that up!0
