If you are thinking of a break in Manchester, then before going to see a show, I recommend having a few hours at the Christmas Market that is on at the same time too.
It's a little pricey on some stalls, but it's nice to have a wander round and have a bite of something to eat.
BTW the Palace theatre is a nice building to see a show, we went to see Mrs Brown (years before it came on the telly) and it's nicely laid out.
BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j

You can't go far wrong with Cardiff imo. Lots of lovely places to stay, good shopping, and you've got the Millennium Centre, St David's Hall and Motorpoint Arena which would have shows other than Pantos.

In fact, all the pantos I've ever seen don't start until at least mid December, if not a bit later. The one I always go and see locally doesn't start until January.

And it looks like we made it once again

We've decided to celebrate a little earlier and go to comic con in Birmingham at the end of November (http://www.mcmcomiccon.com/birmingham/), then relax with a meal and hotel room.

We're massive geeks so this is right up our street :D
