Cancelling contract with T-mobile

To be more specific - I should be billed tomorrow for my final month of an 18 mth contract with T-mobile. I do not want to continue on with them after that (already signed up for 3) so do I just write to them stating that after the 12th July I no longer wish to continue on their network and in the meantime cancel any direct debit with them? Never come to the end of a contract before so not sure what to do.
Also, I am assuming I wouldn't be able to move my number until after the 12th July. Is that right?
Many thanks

You usually have to give a months notice even when your at the end of a contract.0

Give T-Mobile customer services a call on 150 and tell them that your giving your 30 days notice to terminate the contract as stated in your contract's T&C's. T-mobile are normally pretty good with customer service I can't envisage any problems.
Pretty straightforward - but worth doing it today.
Let us know how you get on.0 -
You can ask for your pac code and this MAY override the need to give 30 days notice. Works sometimes.0

They'll charge you for your pac code up until 12th July. I used to work in their retentions department and it's the way of getting out of a cancellation against your name.
If you just want to cancel your number, hand in 30 days notice, thats not a problem, but don't ask for a pac unless your willing to pay for it now (basically another months line rental)0 -
I rang them rather than cancel by letter, They may try and offer you a better deal to get you to stay but I had no problem canceling over the phone0

I have phoned them and just cancelled via my 30 day notice.
They did try to keep me but as I have to hang out of my window at home to make calls or send texts, they weren't going to convince me!
They said if I wanted my PAC code now there would be a charge and suggested I waited and just phoned at the end of this rental period and asked for the code then, subsequently cancelling the contract. I will be away on hol at the time and the additional costs involved in making that call (at 50p / min and been on phone for 15 mins) just isn't worth keeping my number.
Therefore starting afresh with a new number (will let my contacts know that with the remaining allowance on my T-mobile phone as already activated 3 contract!).
Thanks everyone for your help and advise - made me understand my options much better. If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0
