On Wednesday 28th August i placed my online order for delivery with Asda for Friday 30th August. Cost including delivery was £61.24p I recieved an email itemised bill for the same amount and paid by my card online.
When the goods arrived the paper bill stated £65.32 over £4 more?
When i checked my online banking they had indeed removed over £65 from my bank. I called to get the difference returned but was told prices had increased between my ordering and they delivering and it was in the terms and conditions. Well i have my own terms and from this weekend i will shop at a different supermarket.
You didnt pay online on the Wednesday, they merely reserved 1p from your card. You card is billed on the day of the shop/delivery. As they state you should have read the T&C's but more so which part of this did you miss when confirming your order?

I await your post next week when you tell us a similar tale of Tesco, Sainsburys, Ocado or iceland

    yes it states clearly here

    Price

3.1 Prices on the website are the prices charged in store on that day. As prices may change on a daily basis, and the website is updated overnight, prices are therefore a guide only. There may be variations by the time We are due to Deliver, or You are due to Collect, Your order. When You shop online You will pay the same price (excluding Our online only promotions) that You would pay if You came to Our Store to do Your shopping on the day of delivery.
3.2 We give You the choice of ordering certain items such as fruit and vegetables either by weight or by quantity. As it is difficult to select loose items such as these to an exact weight, if You order these items by weight We'll charge You for the actual weight picked - and We always try and get as near as possible to the weight You ordered. Loose items are priced by weight in store, meaning that if You order by quantity and the items picked in store have a higher than average weight, You may be charged more than the guide price given online at time of order. If the items in store have a lower than average weight , You may be charged less than the guide price given online at time of order.
3.3 In addition to the price, a Delivery or a Collection charge as shown at checkout will also be payable by You.
  • Thank you for all your replys, i just think if i ordered something online regardless what it is or who it is from the price should be as advertised, their are many people who cant afford too much at the moment and if Argos did this they would be held up as cheats.
  • You will recieve no reply about tesco or any other supermarket, we shop at farm shops and the local market now.

Have you read all the replies?
There is a big difference between ordering groceries on-line and ordering other goods e.g. fridge or a microwave from somewhere like Argos.
In the latter case - they are able to verify stock, allocated it to you once payment has been verified, that all takes place at the same time, and date i.e. with the price ruling at that date.
With groceries, the transaction date - is not, repeat is not, the order date it is the date you select for delivery. That date, is when picking takes place, hence invoice value is ruled by what is available to pick on that date, and the prices ruling at that date.
In the event that any item's price has changed more than you would like, return it.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard
  • It was another post where the OP already had an opinion and it was not going to be changed - in spite of the facts and in spite of the fact that what he was saying was wrong...

Which supermarket have you found that doesn't adjust prices to the time of picking the order?

I am sure we all want to know this. ;)
    ...

    Ocado.

As in "the price of such goods will be as quoted on the website at the time you confirm your order". With certain exceptions.

Tesco also runs its promotions with a pre-determined end date. Therefore so long as the order is delivered before that end date, you get the promotional price. Asda however, changes its prices on a whim, without notice, so you can get caught out. As (no doubt) the OP was.

I refer to my byline below ...
