Wood Burner and Fireplace installation

I am looking at wood burners and fireplaces. Installation costs seem very high to me. Not sure if I am missing something, but I have a purpose made flue in position so nothing to do there. All that needs doing is screwing the surround to the wall, laying the hearth and connecting the wood burner to a metal ring already in position.
Looks like a diy job to me and maybe 4 hours tops but I have a quote of £1150?
Surely I could do this, but obviously it would need certifying.

Only by your local government/build dept. phone them up if you are up to the job. You will save a fortune.

Yup, should cost from £100-£300 (which it is in my brothers local area!!!!)

So the liner is also in position from the chimney down? If Hetas installer, they may be unwilling to sign off as htey haven't done the work themselves and may be liable..... if they can get up on the roof maybe their attitude will change!

No, he isn't. I'd suggest you do do this yourself, leave the surround off (may be too close for building regs to combustible material, and you can fit after sign off if you want) then get building regs to sign off!
