If it is that bad perhaps you could try the chemical approach. I got some non toxic bio-degradable stuff from the garden centre to clean garden slabs. Simply wash on diluted and rinse off after 30 minutes. It brought them up a treat.

If you have a two story house(?) perhaps you might get better results by accessing from an upstairs window.

If your roof comprises plastic sheets(?) be careful how you scrub, these are easily scratched.

I've got some UPVC cleaner from one of those home delivery magazines so gonna give that a go.

I think that the ladder itself I'm gonna hire, rests on the glazing bars so I should be pretty safe.

Not doing it this weekend though as weather is really bad!

All roofs I have ever sold can be climbed on as long as you only stand on the bars. However as we did not manufacture yours and I dont know who did, I cannot say either way whether your is ok. If you elect to try hoever always follow the following steps
Always only stand on bars and go gently, you do not want to move any top caps as this then may cause leaks and you would not be covered by your gaurantee.
Always do it when there is someone else around in case of (heaven forbid) accidents.
For cleaning UPVC you should only use detergent.
your local building plastics supplier will supply a specialist cleaner which can be used on white only but wear gloves.
if the dirt is really ingrained you can use a bathroom cleaner but be warned the grains in this will scratch the surface a bit and then dirt sticks easier next time.
woodgrain surfaces, only ever use detergent, anything else WILL affect the finish.
POlycarbonate has the same rules as white upvc
if you have self cleaning glass or easy clean, never use any chemicals or abrasives as this will affect the coating and null any garantee.

Could you perhaps ask a local window cleaner. Some now using brushes with rods to clean windows maybe some may have a special angles pole for jobs such as this

My local window cleaner uses pole with a brush, the pole is attached with a small hosepipe and cleans the windows with distilled water so we get very few left over marks on the glass.
