flight CANCELLED then new flight delayed help

here goes,
Booked on Air France flight from JFK to CDG on wed 28th 7.10pm landing in paris next day with forwarding flight to Aberdeen, all arranged with Airfrance. Flight taxied along runway and then performed emergency stop. , already at this poind about 1 hour delayed. Sent back to gate to offload, get luggage etc.. eventually told flight was cancelled being sent to hotel and finally arrived in hotel just after 3 am, which is where we stayed for 2 nights. New flight, and flight number, arranged along with forwarding flights to Aberdeen for friday 30th morning meant to leave at 10am. got to airport and to gate only to then be told this new flight was now delayed till 11pm that evening. landed in uk finally on saturday 31st at about 3.30pm total 52hrs delay.

all in all we had cancelled flight , then a delayed flight. and to cap it all our luggage never arrived until monday evening, shouldve been sunday but couriers muddled it up.

when we finally got on board we were asked to fill out a form with details for airline to contact us ref problems. im going to wait till friday this week and see if they do call me.

If not where do i stand and what do i do, claim for cancelled and delayed flight or what. was told by airline we could claim expenses for toiletries, underwear etc, which i have kept receipts for. Also lost a days pay due to delays so any advice or help would be great thanks.

You claim for the cancelled flight, reimbursement of accommodation and meals whilst waiting.
The toiletries and underwear expenses...was this whist you were delayed, did you not have your baggage? If it was for when you returned home and the bags were delayed you will probably find they will not pay out as most will cover for delayed bags on the outbound flight (did you get anything in writing?)
No claim for loss of days pay from the airline so check your travel insurance to see if they cover you for anything

I do not believe you can claim for the cancelled flight AND the delayed flight. To qualify for compensation you need to have paid a fare for the flight. You will have done so for the first flight but not for the second one

thanks for the reply. They put us up in hotel and got meals provided.
toiletries etc was when we ran out as had to stay longer.
lost days pay as missed work, probably not worth claiming off insurance for mine, but husband had to take 1 1/2 days off to look after kids as i wasnt back, his would be worth claiming though.

at least i know where to start now ty
