When I've bought, I've generally had more contact with the agent I'm buying through rather than the one I'm using!

I too would name and shame the branch.

Disgusting behaviour from the vendord and the EAs. They could have at least approached you first to say what they were about to do.

Also believe in karma. You'll either find something better, or the sale will fall through! Grrrr.

And no, I wouldn't do that to anyone for £15k (or indeed more!).

    Jx
PS Sorry to hear it's all gone t*ts up! Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

It could be that the estate agents were under instruction from the vendors? Afterall would the estate agent really risk their commision, which was 'in the bag' for the sake of the extra commision from £15K?

  • I would echo that the EA would have only been following vendors' instructions.

When a couple of things changed AFTER my offer had been accepted by my vendor I checked and traced them back to my vendor. The EA had indeed been following their instructions. Its not what you know..but who you know sometimes......

I would not use an EA that did not pass on late offers. It is not their decision to make.

All this "name and shame" is complete cobblers.
  • W4nker!

Sorry mods, but the vendor is....

True but let's be honest, most of us would seriously consider an increased offer that large.

Though I probably would use some of that to pay the costs of the OP on a moral basis

Depends what the total cost was. £15K on top of £95K is a big deal, £15K on top of £950K is not worth mentioning. Personally I'd value being at the exchange stage more than the vague potential for gaining an extra £15K.

    Fair point....

  • OP, I just wanted to commiserate. That was a really xxxxy thing for the seller to do. I hope that their new buyers faff about for ages, make them 'earn' every penny of that 15k.

I hope you find somewhere else soon, somewhere better than this dream house and I hope that all goes through quickly without a hitch. :)

    I feel your pain

I've waited 4 months for work to be completed on the flat I was buying - now it's done and the market has picked up they've put it back on the market for £15000 more, leaving me out of pocket around £2k

Everyone says what's meant to be is meant to be and what goes around comes around etc, just hope it's true!

Fingers crossed you find another place soon, good luck!
