Recycle broken tv for cash?

Options
Hi,

I am getting a new tv since my old one had a smashed screen (still viewable but not ideal) and I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere that trades in old broken electronics.
It seems a waste to just take it to the recycling centre because it still works, it was just that it wasn't viable to replace the screen when a new telly would cost only a little bit more and it's a good few years old anyway. I came across cashforelectronics.co.uk but have never heard of them and wondered if anyone can vouch for them since I am naturally suspicious!

Thanks
Bob

Sell it on EBAY as spares or repairs
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
  • Most of the time, selling such scrap is barely worth the effort as the return will be tiny.
You'll also have to arrange for it to be collected etc. which can be a real pain.

What do you have to lose? The TV is effectively worthless and will cost you to transport to a recycling centre.

This company will collect for free AND might offer you a few pennies (if you are lucky).

Because they are offering to remove his scrap TV for free?

(I agree that I wouldn't trust them with my money - they have a "hotmail" email address! - but they aren't asking for any.)

I would just take it down to the HWRC, it will get recycled under WEEE regs.
