Has anyone managed to upgrade a holiday win?

Options
Hi lovely peeps,

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this, but I was just wondering if anyone had ever managed to upgrade a holiday win?

We are a family of six and holiday prizes for six are few and far between. I am not sure whether to go ahead and enter the competitions for families of four and hope they will allow me to pay the extra to add two more, if I was ever lucky enough to win.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has managed to upgrade a win. Quite a few of these prizes have itineraries, which also would only be for four, so this could complicate things further. The kids are just desperate for the Orlando win, as you can imagine!

Some of them say you can upgrade. For those that don't say anything I'd enter them and worst case you have to decline a holiday. Good luck :D
    Decluttering target:
Beauty product - 11/52, last item - bubble bath used while I shaved legs, 2 conditioners sachets from used hair dye boxes
    Play room - 41/52, last item -
    Clothes - 23/52, last item -
    Food - 13/52, last item -

one couple once managed to swap the extra spending money for a place for their child on the trip.
but sometimes if you don't specifically fit the 'family' they want you may not be able to keep the prize.
it all depends on the company really
Thank you to everyone that posts on here

The gist of my posts in the above was:

Hi,it is down to the promotors really.
    My experience is positive though.
I've won trips to Vancouver & NY.Both were for two adults.
On the Vancouver trip I just the paid to add a child. This was just the airfare as they let me choose a hotel that had two double beds.
On the NY I just gave up the $1000 SAKS voucher & they added a child on.
I'd say enter & then just be nice as you negotiate :-)

I recently won a family holiday (2 adults and 2 children up to the age of 11) my eldest son is 15 so we have paid the extra supplement for him.
  • I always wondered this too. I usually enter & hope that I will be allowed to add some extra people to the booking.

Thanks all - great advice, as always.

Thank you, Luckyone, that would be great if you could move it to the right place (I'm still working my way around here even after 3 years!! Hope you're a luckyone!). And thanks, Weeowens, that's such a help - I will devour those links.

I'm in a similar situation myself being a family of five, I have to say I shy away from about 95% of holiday comps that are for families of four. I am basically too much of a scaredy cat - I'd be gutted to be told I'd won, only to then find we couldn't add an extra child!!! So I just tend not to bother entering!! :(
  • I won an ITV holiday comp and added an extra night and an extra person :)
