Sounds like the 4hr volunteering thing has to go. No doubt you will get an update on what happened.
If the 3 work appointments bring in money perhaps you need to do them?

Four hours volunteering in a meeting? And another chunk of voluntary work later on top of that? Argh. No. Send apologies, unexpected issues, please let me know action points and date of next meeting, which I will diarise and attend if I possibly can.
Cup of tea it is, then. It's one bad day that you didn't check in your diary, Watty, that's all. You're kind of close to overwhelm, so when you slip up like this, you need to prioritise, apologise where necessary, and make sure that whatever you *do* decide to do, you can give it your attention. If anybody creates an issue about accidental overbookings, that's on them - people who say they've never done it are lying, I guarantee you. Take care of you.2023: the year I get to buy a car7 -
Watty1 said:The Charming Cob went to have his saddle fitted this morning. VNM drove us in my horsebox. Usually the saddler would come out but it was easier to go to him this time and I am so glad I did. Lovely place, down a leafy lane with 4 bridle paths that crossed it and miles of woodland. After Friday's ride I was admiring the woodland and again, the VNM asked why I didn't move somewhere. I came home and interviewed RightMove and found a house for £825,000 which would be perfect. It was on that very lane with 3 stables and 4.5 acres and all that glorious woodland on the doorstep.
I don't have £825,000 but I can dream. My long term dreams are changing for sure. I realise what I really want to do is ride the charming cob around woodlands and just have fun. As I articulated that to the VNM I started to cry. So much of me has been hidden in the struggle of working and paying for stuff with the ex and then dealing with the fallout. I was really emotional as I realised my dreams are really quite simple. Perhaps hard to achieve but if I can get to where I am I can get the rest of the way.Hi Watty, just catching up on your diary.I know you have your to-do list, do you also have a photo/vision board? I don't remember. Maybe put a photo that relates to this somewhere, maybe even next to the to-do list to help focus on your way to doing what you want to do. Your ultimate dream may be expensive but you can have lots of mini steps towards something that works for you in all ways.Look at your diary, plan your week with work stuff and add schedule rides on charming cob, walks with WattyDog. They are just as important for you, will bring you joy and may help with your work related stuff. I am really bad at prioritising me but together we can all do this xMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I too am living in the overwhelm @Watty1. I have just arranged to do one major paid job Mon to Wed as it has been spilling over into...7 days a week! Not sustainable and giving me no time for everything else. Be kind to yourself. Love Humdinger xx4

Don’t be too hard on yourself. This stuff happens. I hope you got to the coaching session as that is what *you* needed and wanted? Either way, I think stepping back from volunteering, even for a bit, is a good shout. Remember you are still recovering and ‘mopping up’ various kinds of aftermath.I’ve recently had to decline being Clerk to my Parish Council where I am a councillor. It would just be too much on top of a demanding FT job (which we need to keep our mortgage ship afloat), trying to keep up with chores, cooking more food from scratch for my health, helping Mr KK with structural changes to the house (and living with the mess!), a big garden and having some kind of life for myself around all that! This in spite of the fact that we are legally required to have a Clerk and the current one is eager to stop(lots of emotional pressure on me). Sometimes, something has to give and it shouldn’t be us! 😉😊🤷♀️

Hope you got thru your meetings ok
taking time for ourselves and our dreams is super important especially after grief and times of stress. I echo everyone above!
fellow MFW I think we are all superwomen /supermen thinking that as we can battle daily and win against our mortgages and spending v saving dilemma we can do it all .We can but not all at the same timeGood luck @suffo@Suffolk_lassDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

What kind thoughts. Thank you. @Suffolk_lass thinking of you and exam
Well I got through that day, then the following day no emails. Very odd. Checked online. None there. Rang IT support company as I clearly an issue and the nice chap explained he had to email me to get confirmation I would pay for the work. Interesting discussion followed obviously as the fault was no emails!
After 24 hours of the IT support techs logging onto my computer (thus meaning I could do no work) it was revealed the account was suspended by the back office staff because when they had switched payment platforms they had disconnected my account.
There was that moment where I wanted to say something very badly - but - realised I needed them to fix the problem. Lost 2.5 days work and the same amount of emails. All my work comes in by email. During this time I was told that the woman who was needed to give the authorisation to reconnect was with "important clients". the implication being I am not important. It is time to get a new company I think. I've been reluctant to leave this one because the actual tech chap is awesome and I have so much confidence in him. But the rest of the company are not, and I dread calling. Time to look for a new company.
In financial and similar matters I have been tracking my spending and clearly "food" remains an issue but not in the way I thought. I've cut it down a lot now, moving away from Mindfu1 chef but there are far too many regular spends in the local co-op and garage and these are snacks or chocolate or all the stuff i try not to eat. I was surprised how much I was wasting. So glad I tracked that. I will think on that one.
In a related matter, Saturday night was a local ball and I was going with a pal who had won an award. Those "snacks" proved even more expensive as I weighed myself when I found the only dress i have suitable for a ball would not do up. I have gained over a stone in weight. I had to shop at the local TK Max for a suitable dress. Luckily found one for just £30. I don't love it but it certainly beat spending a lot more anywhere else! Shoes and matching bag were not considered in order to save money and really who notices such things. Lovely if expensive evening, I drank too much, was up until 2.00 am, spent £20 on raffle tickets but was happy. So proud of friend who had won the local Eventers (Cross County Riding) league. She has had a really hard year after catching husband of 8 years cheating (so many of us have been there) and working out what to do and it was such a joy to see her happy and confident and successful.
So finances and weight need working on over the next few weeks. At least I know now.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!8 -
Ach that is such a sucky attitude from your work company! May they suffer a plague of particularly sticky frogs! 😡
It might be worth having a chat with the Tech guy there to see if he would still be your general IT support? That’s how I have ended up with mine - he was and still is, a contractor at the company I was at for 23 years / 5 jobs ago 😊
But, yes, time to find a new source of work. Good luck with that 🤞👍🌞✨
Yes, the local, ‘popping out to pick up …’ spends can run away with you! (Been there, done that … 😉) But like you say, you’ve spotted that now and you can add those items to your planned in-person or online shops 😊
Glad the ball went well and your friend had something to celebrate ❤️
