Rubbish news Watty, but it sounds like you have it all under control. Are the police pursuing it?

No. Handed over a crime number and have done their bit. Apparently it’s a regular occurrence in these parts!
. Genuine errors, you would hope everyone would understand and be reasonable, so let's hope this is the case.

Look on the good side - you found it and are dealing with it, not just brushing it under the carpet, so Good for You - facing it head on. .

Its something I should never have done. Yes it was a genuine mistake but I actually had a letter about the issue a couple of months back and I thought it was just a circular and put it in the bin L
However I’ve done what I can to minimise it. I’ll be frantically checking my spreadsheets daily until about April, but, I’m hoping the action I have taken will minimise the financial harm. I can’t do any more and will just have to take the fines that crop up like a big girl …..

this is all your bad luck for the year in one go.

That is what I am happening. Hopefully that is it, over and done. The pessimist in me hopes this is not the way the year is shaping up, but, I’m usually optimistic even in the face of impending doom so I’m cheerfully saying I’ve done well to get the crap out of the way before the year is even a week old.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

And in good news the knotted hanky fund gained £390 today. Mr Watty had a ring and necklace from his dad's stuff that a few weeks ago he gave me and said he didn't want to see again. Today I sold them and made £392 .. spent £2 parking so £390 up. I have told Mr Watty but he just said I should say thank you darling as he gave it to me and the money is mine!
He did mention I should spend it on the rug drier I was eying up for the horse rugs. Now that would be a luxury spend but as I have no idea where and how this nightmare muddle at home will play out I'm not sure about frittering the money on that.
(I know horse rugs do dry on horse but I don't like my elderly pony using his energy for that so I bring his wet rugs into the living room and dry them in front of the woodburner!)

Aw rats to the bad start to the year but glad you've contained the damage business-wise and that spitter hanky fund is doing well.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Sorry to hear about the work problems and break in. A pity the police are not pursuing, especially as it seems a common occurrence in the area - possibly the same gang.

    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Excellent news! Even though it's a little thing - still good. And very sweet not to let the pony use his energy on the horse rug :)

That's outrageous about the police, but these are the times we live in, it seems.

Great news about the increase to the KHF!

Sorry to hear about the break in - even though nothing was taken in the end it's still horrid and you've been inconvenienced during that night and the next day sorting it all out :(

Great news re the bonus £390 for the fund, though :)

Hoping here onwards is getting better......
