No there is a mass of hardcore under the slate. The original soil is long gone sadly! The front is my one big renovation I wish I had never .....

Some stonkingly large pots with 'statement' planting in? An old tin bath full of semperveriums (or whatever the word is) with interesting and colourful grasses at the back? A huge pot with an acer in? Bright blue pots with variegated bushes in? A camellia in a large pot?

    xx

    Hi Watty
Sorry to hear you have been down. Lovely news about the kitten. Great news about the spending too. I know someone who gets caught in the spending to cheer herself up and then getting depressed about the amount she has spent cycle and it is hard to watch.

Cornflowers are easy to grow and the bees love them. If you want a low maintenance front garden you could go with an oriental type theme with bamboo and grasses in pots.

Some fab ideas there for the front here. Nice :) Thank you all very much. Will think on. The redo of the back garden has been perhaps the best £500 spent. A new lawn instead of the big bed and the plants removed and replanted in other areas to absolutely stuff the borders that remain so looks great. Will think about what I can do 'out front'. Liking the bright blue pots with statement bushes in idea. Currently have a large terracotta pot with a tree in which I absolutely love and a plastic pot (which is nice) by the front door. Will think on as moving is still a possibility just not willing to go to the other end of the country feeling so crappy

The pots could be an investment anyway? -would perhaps mean you liked the front more if you stayed, would give 'kerb appeal' to any potential buyers if not - and any decent removal firm should be able to cope with large potted plants/ trees :)

OK :) I am persuaded. Will keep a look out for both pots and plants over the next few months. No hurry but will do. Mr Watty has sprayed all the weed out there too.

Updated signature as found I could make another small overpayment this month.

And outsourced a piece of work. Will pay someone £250 max to do it. I could do it myself but I have been feeling so negative I can't muster the oomph needed. Think it was the right decision to outsource. I can then get on with updating business mailing list which requires less brain power and is a nice routine admin job that is settled about where I am just now.
