Sorry to hear there's no change for your shoulder/arm .... make sure you keep the docs up to date with your situation, won't you?

Will do KC. Also have appointment with physio for 12 days time. She says she can't work on arm until then. Will go back to yoga Tues and am still doing exercises.
Mr Watty says I am being too impatient. Who? Me? Surely not ....

So earlier today Mr Watty asked if it would be possible to save the £50 thousand in one year. Now, it probably isn't but I outlined in a most excitingly persuasive way all the savings we could make - no riding lessons, no schooling plans for Mr Handsome, no buying of lovely grey Fell Pony I had just found on facebook, cheap meals, no alternative health appointments for the next 11 months, no cleaner, no eating out, no this, no that, no exercise classes and so on. I admit it was a very frugal life. And he said no way! I looked at him and said but it is me that would be giving up so much - and - you know what he said - life would be too chaotic if he had to give up the cleaner.....

That's quite funny :rotfl: in a "oh my god, blokes!" sort of way :o

  • Hmmm. Men are good at seeing 'their' things as necessary, and their partners' things as fripperies!

The idea of crashing it out and going very super frugal to pay off a big debt or save for something quickly always seems appealing. But it often costs a lot in the long run as abandoned projects cause waste or cost more to pick up again later. I think slow and steady wins the race!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Seems a while since I updated. Am slowly catching up on diaries and thought I best post on own :)
Arm not great. Still swallowing painkillers. Somewhat fraught conversation with a doctor at local surgery who seemed to think it acceptable for someone to spend their lives on painkillers !!!! I made my feelings on that clear and have now been referred for an MRI. He has no idea when it will come through and I strongly suspect he will delay it as I was so scathing of his comments that some people spend their lives on painkillers. I expect they do but I sincerely hope they understand why rather than just handed them out by a GP who thinks pain is to be expected as we age. Was horrified he should think that, especially as he is older than I am.
Have returned to yoga yesterday and enjoyed class. It sort of fits with one of my goals for the year as well.
And on money news - things going well towards target. Sold a belt decluttered for £7, a pair of boots for £40 and a pot for £12 on bay of e. All great sales. This weekend will do financial update. That was the one bright spot in the last few days, which saw Most Handsome go lame again and me have to spend out on x-ray for his feet. Seems pedal bone rotated partially again. Poor chap. Should have had this checked last November but I really have not been on top of my game lately.

Decided needed to get back to MK decluttering. Have done clothes and books. Office getting me down so decided to start there and the easy move had to be to take the new/free breadmaker to the kitchen and put away.
Opened 'gadget cupboard' and decided time to remove doggy's meds and supplements, had a good cry, cleaned cupboard, tried to decide what to do with a hand mixer that my mum once owned, couldn't decide, returned to office, found box, tidily stored gadgets, washed all pet food containers, cleaned cupboard, horrified by state of slow cooker, cleaned that, put all away neatly.
Exhausted and over emotional returned to office with cup of tea and toasted tea-cake that I remembered was in freezer.
No wonder MK says it takes months !!

Paid self and checked over accounts :J I know the target is slowly creeping up but it is not quite as enjoyable as watching the figure fall :)

Checked what was left in the freezer. The bulk cook up at the start of January was a huge success.

Our January supermarket bills are half our usual spend and we have eaten so much better with more fresh veggies and salads.
Last weekend cooked a lentil curry, a potato and spinach curry, a carrot and cashew curry and 8 servings of cod and butter bean stew.
Need to set aside another 2 days to cook up another months worth of meals. So we eat better, for half the price and it is so much less stressful just knowing the prep is all done for meals. :j :j :j

  • Inspiring food results, Watty!

We're experimenting with weekly meal plans and our results are pretty good meal-wise (will have to see how costs work out longer-term). We've had leftovers every day for lunch (so at least £30/mo savings there) and don't have any debates about what to cook/eat each night.
