Absolutely - thats lovely, Watty, really kind. Sorry to hear Mr W has had a biopsy, hope the result turns out to be nothing, which it very easily can do (I've had 3, and its all been benign stuff thats nothing at all).
Hope you manage to get some of the exercise you want this weekend.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks Alchemilla and Karmacat. You are both lovely
After confidently predicting things would calm down and I'd be catching up, life went haywire again.
I'm not going to jinx anything this time so will just do my check in and then try to catch up with you all as I can.
Have made an overpayment in the midst of busyness so all well on that front.
Repayments now under £350 a month :j
Have also finally completed re-mortgage on old house and that should now be offering £100 towards the repayment kitty a month :j
Am also trying to get hold of letting agent to discuss the contract as during the re-mortgage period, discovered contract was no longer valid. Seems like an ideal time for negotiation. Unsurprisingly they now won't return my calls!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Hi Watty, oh my word, you have *so* much on your plate! Good idea not to jinx ... and the finances actually sound like they're on track. Here's hoping.
All the best

Spoke to agent that manages the rental of our old house as finally rang back. Lots of waffle to assure me their service is excellent. I charmingly agreed I could not fault their service but wondered why we had no contract? My tenant appears to be on the wrong lease? And there has been no rent review for some years now? Was quick to point out that I don't actually want to put the rent up, I want to put their fees down and offered a percentage than is lower than I'm after but I wanted to allow them 'negotiation room' so that both of us win on this.
She now says she has to speak to her boss - dearie me - I wait 3 days for her to call back and now she tells me she isn't actually a decision maker after allMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Oh well done! Thats really excellent! And your tenant doesn't even pay any more :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
You did well there, watty2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Lent challenge - as it is a Saturday time and handsome baby still off work time to tackle one of the larger declutters so did the patio. Lots of stuff added to the tip heap and a garden waste bin almost full. All empty coal sacks recycled too. Mr Watty feels the bin men will be glad when lent is over! He suggested giving them the name of a chiropractor given the amount of toot I'm throwing.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Mr Watty is a card.
Woop woop! To the negotiations.0 -
Am also delighted because agent has agreed the tenancy contract is not suitable (took me a quick google to work that out) and tenant has agreed to a year contract from 1st April so little bit of security there! With the re-mortgage and the drop in management fees that property is contributing to financial independence as well as current overpayments. Whoop woop indeedMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
