Any hotel employees give me advice?

I am asking advice and making enquiries at the beginning of September for a hotel stay that does not begin for almost 4 months and you accuse me of not planning?
Read my OP. Not asking for food suggestions, asking about HOTEL POLICY AND RULES about fridges and Tupperware boxes, actually.
If I cannot get a fridge then another way to get food is to eat non perishable, and yet another way is to ring around the takeways and find out if any is open over Xmas, and another is to find out the exact Xmas opening times of the nearest supermarket. There are lots and lots of options and I will not be in the least bit miserable.
I am going to the hotel primarily to enjoy the use of the leisure facilities, the pool, sauna, gym, steam room, etc, to go for walks around the grounds, be in beautiful surroundings, etc, NOT to gorge myself on food, like most people seem to over Xmas. Food to me is not entertainment, but sustenance.
The day I leave the hotel I fly to North Africa on a package holiday. I am trying to enjoy life as much as I can, and I resent being told I should just stay at home.
But thanks everyone for the kind and intelligent suggestions.
Someone sent me a message saying if I wear a TripAdvisor Reviewer's badge prominently on my lapel they will give me anything I like lol....
No one has told you to stay at home , its been suggested that maybe you should try and book elsewhere BECAUSE you seem to be struggling with the location of the hotel and your need to find specific food cheaply
I think you will find that most ( if not all ) people on here in your shoes would eat in the restuarant , even if it meant wasting food/money
I thought low carbers ate loads of food?
How are you going to deal with North Africa?
You could buy an electric egg boiler , they take up very little room and do a good job . Ask the hotel about using the fridge , I havent come across an electronic one in this country for quite a while btw .....you can slip in thin packs of meat/cheese quite easy i have found and eggs of course are quite happy at room tempVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
WOW LEJC you are SO inventive and resourceful! Thanks! I remember years ago realising that one could use the kettle to make Cup-a-Soups, thus saving the cost of lunch and dinner. Can't do that now, as I no longer eat any processed foods. But I never thought of boiling eggs! Genius! And the barbecue idea -- wow, so off the wall. I'd be like Bear Grylls.I think its perfectly possible to have food on christmas day.....how about hard boiled eggs using the in room kettle...I've no idea if it would work but its worth thinking about.
Or even taking a disposable bbq with you and cooking your own meat whilst out on a walk during the day...
Hope you have a lovely/peaceful/reflective/festive (delete as appropriate ) time!
Aw you didn't give me the option of HEALTHY. I want to have a healthy time, with the focus on keeping to my diet as much as possible, swimming every day, maybe even twice a day, using the gym and walking. Maybe I will be the only Brit who LOSES weight over Xmas!
"its worth finding out as much as you can about the place before you go."
To this end I just rang anonymously and asked if they would empty the minibar for me, and the concierge said they don't put minibars in rooms any more! Only on request. When I asked if I could have an empty one "just to keep milk for tea and cold water" he said there is a cooler in every room, but it is not a proper fridge, just a "cooler" and it's "provided for guests to use for their own water, wine, juice, chocolate and suchlike". So, this means that they are NOT bothered about the health and hygiene issue, if they are inviting people to put bottles from shops, boots of cars etc.0 -
Hi I have asked hotels many times to empty the mini bar prior to my arrival and they have always done so without even asking why,( I mean you could be a recovering alcoholic for all they know) so don't worry just have a great time

My husbands cousin emptied a hotel fridge to stack her booze and was shocked to find a huge bill ( was electronic ) lol .the hotel were very obliging and cancelled out the bill when all the stuff was put backVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
Or if you are going the whole hog and using disposable bbqs , how about one of those small camping stoves that people use when hiking , you can get collapsable kettles and pans ( they are expensive tho )Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

No one has told you to stay at home , i
Yes, someone did upthread.
Not everyone is the same. There is no restriction on the amount of meat and fat one eats, but the appetite blunting properties of a high fat diet mean that after a couple of days you start eating less.... and less.... and don't feel like snacking in between, either. I find eating anything with mayonnaise kills my appetite. So I might have a small tin of tuna with mayo at 7am and I am not hungry again till about 5pm...I thought low carbers ate loads of food?
I went last year and it is all inclusive so there is always something to eat -- always a massive choice on the salad bar, to which I just add some kind of meat - roast chicken, fish etc. For breakfast, there was an omelette bar.How are you going to deal with North Africa?
I will be taking an electric kettle to North Africa, can boil eggs in that! (I am not going home in between the hotel stay and going abroad.)You could buy an electric egg boiler
THANKS!0 -
Frankly I find these Atkins style diets rather boring without spices etc so how about smoked salmon, pickled herring and cream cheese in the cooler along with a precooked chicken (depending on how far you are travelling with supplies-or will you shop locally when you arrive -bearing in mind the supermarkets will be heaving). If you are planning on a barbecue - best pray it's not a white Christmas though !!! (or a wet one)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

If she's going to do that she may as well get a tent too and have done LOLOr if you are going the whole hog and using disposable bbqs , how about one of those small camping stoves that people use when hiking , you can get collapsable kettles and pans ( they are expensive tho )
(I did read "no car" further up so probably the stove isn't practical though)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

There's another way to make Cup-a-Soups ??????
Empty packet in mug
Boil kettle
Pour water in mug-and stir
How else would you do it ?????I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I work in a hotel and we have extra items which guests can request, one of which is a freestanding fridge - mostly requested by guests on special medication needing refrigeration - worth asking your hotel0
